We are grateful that the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments today on this landmark case regarding separation of powers. The issues raised in this case are of paramount importance to our country. As family-owned, mission-driven businesses, we were proud to attend today’s hearing to represent our 500 employees, as well as the schools and families around the world who rely on our products for their educational needs. The IEEPA tariffs are a multi-trillion dollar tax on Americans, burdening the thousands of small and medium-sized businesses which make up the backbone of our economy. As three lower courts already have, we’re hopeful that the Supreme Court will uphold that the IEEPA tariffs are illegal. Learning Resources and hand2mind remain committed to supporting education and ensuring that families, educators, and children have access to high-quality, affordable learning tools.

Tomorrow morning, Learning Resources and hand2mind will appear before the U.S. Supreme Court in a landmark case challenging the legality of IEEPA tariffs: Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump. In the nearly 50 years since its enactment, no president has ever used IEEPA—which does not include the words “tariff,” “tax,” or “duty”—to implement tariffs. We’re heading to the Supreme Court. The Court has agreed to hear Learning Resources (which includes Educational Insights and Brightkins) and hand2mind’s case challenging the IEEPA tariffs—an issue that affects not just our business, but countless others across the country. It’s a major step forward, and we’re grateful that they’ve chosen to adjudicate a case with such significant economic implications. The Court has set an expedited timeline, with oral arguments scheduled for early November. This fast-track review underscores the urgency and significance of the issues at stake.
