Most integration business cases fall apart before reaching finance. You’ve already chosen to buy instead of build. Engineering costs are too high, maintenance is endless, and you need market coverage faster than your team can deliver. But when it's time to secure budget, the business case breaks down. Why? Because integrations span multiple departments, making it hard to assign a single ROI number that gets approved. 1️⃣ Start with blocked pipeline. How many deals are stalled because you don’t support a prospect’s payroll system? What’s the total contract value tied up? 2️⃣ Consider marketplace exposure. With the right integrations, which partner directories could list your app? How many new leads would that generate? 3️⃣ Quantify coverage gaps. How many more deals could you close with broader system support? What expansion opportunities with current customers are out of reach? 4️⃣ Measure time-to-revenue. If onboarding takes weeks today but could take minutes with better integrations, how much sooner could you recognize revenue? Most teams stop at engineering cost savings. That’s not enough. You need a full ROI model across revenue, engineering, and operations. Assign dollar values to each: ▪️ Lost deals from missing integrations ▪️ Partnership revenue potential ▪️ Expansion opportunities with current customers ▪️ Faster revenue recognition from faster onboarding ▪️ Engineering hours redirected to core product ▪️ Reduced operational headcount When you quantify impact across all three areas, the business case becomes undeniable. Our buyer’s guide walks through the full framework for evaluating HR and payroll integration vendors. It includes the key questions to ask and metrics to track. Members of our Marketing and AM teams got together in San Francisco last week for 2 days of planning sessions as we gear up for 2026. We welcomed new members Olivia, Kneif, and Archaa to the flock, made some great progress in our planning for next year, and baked in some time for team dinners and an in-office whiskey tasting. We’re still expanding our GTM teams, with open roles in Sales and RevOps. Check out our open roles and come join this fun and talented crew!

Our Commercial Account Executive, Joshua Kaye, wrapped up a great week in Clearwater Beach (surprisingly cold for Florida at this time of year 🧊) connecting with retirement industry leaders at RANDUG. The conversations reinforced what we're seeing across the industry: retirement plan administration is shifting toward tech-enabled solutions that reduce operational overhead and improve the sponsor experience. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to discuss how seamless payroll integrations are becoming foundational infrastructure for modern plan administration.

Building direct payroll integrations was taking Remodel Health 6 to 12 months per provider. Some systems were completely inaccessible due to prohibitive API fees or lack of partnership options. To scale faster, they evaluated unified API solutions. The decision came down to specialization. "In theory, payroll is simple. In practice, it's a jackknife with 70 different configurations. Finch speaks the language of deductions and reimbursements and knows how to handle complexity, while generic aggregators just know how to map the fields." - Richard Perrin, CTO, Remodel Health With Finch, Remodel Health launched roster sync across 5 new systems in under 2 months, over 80% faster than building in-house. They now support automated deductions management for BambooHR, Paycom, Paycor, and Ultipro through one integration. Read how Remodel Health turned integrations into a competitive advantage.⬇️

Stax.ai chose to buy instead of build payroll integrations. Data is the backbone of TPA operations, but it's deeply fragmented. Plan sponsors manually enter information into spreadsheets, leading to errors and constant reconciliation. Narendran (Naru) Muraleedharan, Founder and CEO of Stax.ai, saw an opportunity to connect directly to payroll providers and pull data from the source of truth. But building those connections would have required scaling the engineering team significantly. "When we made that build versus buy decision and chose buy, it's because we didn't want to scale up our engineering team to focus on maintaining hundreds or thousands of connections in the long run." By partnering with Finch, Stax.ai achieved 80% integration adoption, year-end census data up to 4 months faster, and an average 28% increase in client satisfaction. ➡️ Read the full customer story: https://lnkd.in/eKNRYSEw

Our engineers build scalable systems, ship reliable integrations… and apparently create cinematic masterpieces now, too? Rahul put together this recap of our recent EPD offsite in SF, and it turns out he’s as comfortable behind a camera as he is behind a keyboard. We’re currently looking for more multi-talented engineers to add to our team (cinematography skills not required). Check out our open roles!

Manual data entry remains the retirement industry standard, and it's stalling AI innovation before it begins. At SPARK Forum 2025, our CEO Jeremy Zhang led a panel with leaders from TIAA, FIS, and Deloitte on how to enable AI-driven retirement innovation. The consensus was clear. Without API-based infrastructure and standardized data exchange, AI remains theoretical. One panelist described today’s sponsor data submission as “basically an online manual entry...essentially a half step above a cocktail napkin.” The way forward is to build systems now that support the technology sponsors will expect in the future. That includes automated payroll data exchange, modular platforms that accelerate innovation, and strong strategic partnerships. Key discussion points included: ▪️Breaking down barriers to innovation ▪️Maintaining sponsor trust and preparing for future needs ▪️How regulation can support AI adoption ▪️Why partnerships now offer a competitive edge 🔗 Read the full recap for insights on how to build the foundation AI needs in retirement: https://lnkd.in/eKNX6v3G
