I got a DEXA scan a couple of weeks ago from BodySpec®. I highly recommend it for an all-around health profile that's a little outside what you get in the traditional medicine setting. Here are some goals for 2025: 1. Keep my lean muscle mass and bone density the same (I rocked in that). 2. Reduce body fat (I have some room to improve). 3. Keep up the good energy.

Progress is Progress.. We're near two weeks into the new year and all my desk jockey's have the same goal... Get healthier in 2025! Most of us however don't know how to begin other than just going to the gym more frequently. But then we miss a day, then two, then a week and find ourselves sporadically going it's because of one main reason. We didn't have a PLAN! We didn't have plan because we don't know how to start this journey. My goal for January was to build healthier eating habits... More protein, mor healthy fats and less carbs in my day to day. Of course I'm still making time for the workout but my goal is to just get there for the month of January. Not hit PR's or burn a certain amount of calories, just get there. The habit I'm most focused on is knowing how many calories my body needs for work days, gym days, rest days, etc. A good place for everyone to start is understand your RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) which is the picture attached from my BodySpec®scan. Your RMR refers to the amount of energy your body burns while at rest, essentially the calories needed to maintain basic bodily functions like breathing, cell repair, and maintaining body temperature, when you are not actively exercising or performing strenuous activities; it represents the largest portion of your daily energy expenditure. Why this is important is because if you set your caloric intake to your RMR, you'll know that any physical activity you (walking, jogging, working out, etc) do will have you in caloric deficit. Note: I should caution that if you plan to do an intense workout, you may want to add a buffer of calories. This obviously takes some effort but the good news is that there are a ton of apps that will track this for you. My favorite is MyNetDiary You can use it for free to track your foods or pay for the subscription where you can set caloric and macro goals. I personally have built out an excel spread sheet equipped with formulas to help me track this which works well for me. I'll share a video on how I use it next time.
