"The UK’s legally binding commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 is driving a transformation across the built environment, fundamentally shifting the way we heat our homes, offices, and cities," states Joseph Lazell for Place North West. Addressing the heating of our buildings is one of the most significant challenges for the UK’s net zero ambition, making finding a low carbon and affordable way to heat our buildings an absolute imperative. Therefore, Joseph discusses the heat network revolution in more detail here: https://lnkd.in/etKsepX4

It’s not too late to register! Join us in Birmingham next week for our breakfast briefing on power, where we’ll challenge one of the most common assumptions in development: Is a lack of power availability really the biggest blocker to progress? In the seminar, we’ll explore: ✅ How much power is truly needed for development ✅ Where that power can come from ✅ Innovative solutions already making a difference If you would like to attend, get in touch with Nikita Patel. #Power #CundallBirmingham

A moment of appreciation for the team behind Cundall’s 500 Green Star certification milestone! In case you missed it, last week we marked a major #Sustainability milestone of 500 Green Star Certifications, covering nearly 7.5 million square metres of real estate. As Green Star has evolved, our team has consistently embraced each new tool as an opportunity to challenge the status quo, challenge our clients and push the boundaries of sustainable design. Thank you to each of our GSAPs and the wider sustainability team for making this possible! 🌟 #GreenStar Green Building Council of Australia #SustainableDesign #BuiltEnvironment

Plot 9A is one such example of the future of commercial buildings - a high quality office space that is considerate of carbon. Now occupied by the Government Property Agency, this Grade A office space is in line with the UKGBC's net zero carbon framework and has achieved a 5.5* NABERS Design Reviewed Target Rating. Well done to the project team that made this a reality Ask Real Estate, Jon Matthews Architects Paul Kenyon David Everington
We are delighted our Manchester First Street hub has won the 2025 Building Magazine Project of the Year! The office space secured the accolade for its sustainability credentials after achieving a NABERS 5.5* rating, with the judges also noting the building’s appearance and quality. The project’s entry was submitted by Cundall which designed the building to our exacting standards. Launched as part of our Government Hubs Programme, the Manchester First Street Hub will accommodate around 2,700 civil servants from numerous government departments when it opens. Just a few minutes’ walk from Oxford Road and Deansgate rail stations, the workspace has been designed to be class-leading, meeting inclusive and accessible design standards. The design for the 12,000sqm building will also support a variety of different working styles including spaces to enable collaboration, creativity and community. #BuildingAwards #TransformingCivilService

“In an uncertain world, we face growing pressure to increase our defence spending – and it is right that we do so, protecting ourselves from hostile threats and supporting our allies." Earlier this month, Rachel Reeves didn’t shy away from addressing defence spending in her pre-Budget speech. But what does this mean for the upcoming Budget? In his latest blog, Keith Richardson BEng (Dist) MIET, Defence Sector Lead, explores what has already been committed to defence spending and shares his thoughts on how future allocations might take shape. Will defence take centre stage, or will the Chancellor stick to previous commitments? Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/eFcXaM_M #DefenceSpending #2025Budget
