💬 How do we fund the soil revolution? One of the biggest barriers to scaling regenerative agriculture is finance. For many farmers, transitioning to regenerative practices means taking on short-term risk, upfront costs and, in some cases, temporary yield dips. In regions where farmers are already struggling to make ends meet, the financial leap can feel impossible. The good news? We’re starting to see real momentum - from standards, governments and industry - to close this gap and make regenerative agriculture financially viable at scale. Here are a few recent developments across the globe that have stood out for us: 🌍 1. Science Based Targets initiative moves toward a removal-driven future The latest draft from the SBTi states that while all credit types are permitted until 2035, thereafter companies must transition to 100% removals. This aligns with a broader industry shift - and will likely drive demand (and value) for high-quality soil carbon removal credits. 🇧🇷 2. Brazil launches the RAIZ Investment Accelerator at COP30 Ten countries have backed this Brazil-led initiative designed to unlock public and private investment for restoring degraded agricultural land. This builds on successful models that mobilised billions for pastureland restoration, offering a promising pathway to finance large-scale regenerative transitions. 🌱 3. PepsiCo, Griffith Foods & Milhão corn Ingredients launch a pioneering farmer incentive programme In Brazil’s Cerrado region, a new hybrid Payment-for-Practice + Payment-for-Outcomes model offers farmers upfront payments for regenerative inputs and performance-based bonuses throughout the season. A practical, farmer-centred blueprint for industry-wide transformation. 🌾 4. General Mills creates market pull for regenerative crops After a decade of partnership with farmers growing Kernza - a deep-rooted grain with major soil and ecosystem benefits - the company is now incorporating it into Cascadian Farm cereals. It’s a small formulation shift with big implications: creating dependable demand for farmers adopting regenerative crops. Across geographies and sectors, these examples share something important: financing regeneration is not only possible - it’s beginning to accelerate. Scaling regenerative agriculture will require many tools: policy, market signals, corporate commitments and robust measurement. But ensuring farmers have the financial support to make the transition remains foundational. #RegenerativeAgriculture #ClimateFinance #FarmerIncentives #SustainableFarming #SoilHealth #CarbonRemoval #AgTech #FutureOfFarming #ClimateAction #FoodSystems

🔎 Must-read for anyone passionate about Regenerative Agriculture 🌱 “Beyond the buzz: analyzing actors promoting regenerative agriculture in Europe” - this recent study published on npj Sustainable Agriculture is a thoughtful, data-driven look at who is really driving the regenerative agriculture movement - and raises some crucial questions. A few thought-provoking points raised: - RegenAg may have started as a grassroots farming movement but it has become increasingly influenced by non-farming actors, including corporates and NGOs - The most promoted benefits among all actors are soil health and biodiversity, not financial outcomes, and the most commonly cited practices are cover cropping and crop diversification - Despite widespread promotion, the paper notes a continued lack of robust, standardised soil data to verify real regeneration on the ground - Importantly, the paper argues that the true test of regenerative agriculture’s sustainability lies in its capacity to regenerate ecosystems. Until there is consistent, real-world regeneration, its impact risks remaining more rhetoric than reality At Agricarbon, much of this resonates: - We believe in evidence-based regeneration - our direct measurement approach gives soil carbon claims a scientific backbone, not just a narrative. - We’re committed to low-friction, farm-friendly measurement so farmers can actually see soil improvements year on year. - Our lab delivers automated, standardised analysis of soil organic carbon, contributing to the kind of rigorous data the paper says is still too rare. If you’re curious about how RegenAg is evolving beyond the buzz - and how science, practice and actors are aligning (or not) - this is well worth your time. 👉 Read the paper here: https://lnkd.in/ex5n3ZZW #RegenerativeAgriculture #SoilHealth #ScientificRigour #ClimateTech #Agricarbon

We’re kicking off our new webinar series on soil carbon with the issue that holds back almost everything in this space: uncertainty ⚠️ Some uncertainty in agriculture is unavoidable. But what concerns me is how much avoidable uncertainty we’ve normalised; weak baselines, inconsistent methods, unclear reporting, and programmes waiting for perfect guidance instead of getting started and improving on the go. That’s when claims get questioned. Prices drift without clear drivers. Supply chain programmes hesitate to commit. And trust becomes the bottleneck. Long before soil productivity or science ever do. In our first session we’ll look at where uncertainty really originates, why it spreads, and what it takes to build confidence that doesn’t collapse under scrutiny. With: Annie Leeson, Agricarbon Kevin Silverman, Kateri Max DuBuisson, Indigo Sarah Heard, BeZero Carbon Moderated by James Alexander MBE 🎙️ Where do you see uncertainty slowing things down the most? 💬 Register now: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eFXjwE3P #SoilCarbon #CarbonMarkets #SupplyChainDecarbonization #CarbonAccounting #RegenerativeAgriculture

🌱 Community, Conversation and Collaboration in Madrid 🇪🇸 This week, we had the pleasure of bringing the regenerative agriculture community together in Madrid for an evening of drinks, nibbles and excellent conversation. Every time we host these gatherings, we’re reminded of the strength of the RegenAg community - an engaged, curious and motivated group of people united by a shared goal: to scale regenerative agriculture with integrity and impact. 💬 Hot topic #1: Permanence and integrity in soil carbon projects The discussion dug deep into how we manage permanence at scale - from portfolio-level integrity and risk pooling mechanisms (like buffer reserves and insurance) to encouraging more stable soil carbon forms that minimise potential loss over time. One key takeaway? Strong MRV remains essential to ensure that every credit represents real, measurable removals and to maintain trust across the market. 🗣️ Hot topic #2: A unified lexicon for RegenAg Another common theme: language. As an industry, we need to demystify our science - breaking down acronyms and technical jargon to make regenerative agriculture more accessible and compelling. The challenge (and opportunity) lies in balancing technical rigour with powerful storytelling. Thank you to everyone who joined us - for the ideas shared, the new connections made and the energy you brought to the table. The RegenAg movement is stronger together 🌾 #RegenerativeAgriculture #SoilCarbon #CarbonMarkets #MRV #Sustainability #Agricarbon

Resilience of our food system starts below ground. But it doesn't stop there. If we want to truly change how our food system works, we need evidence that guides decisions. Where carbon is being sequestered. Where soil is coming alive. Which interventions are driving positive change, and where our investments are making a true impact. Without high quality data, it's all guesswork. With it, we can turn ambition into credible progress. What we don't measure, can't be managed. High-integrity soil data helps companies and farmers move beyond assumptions, allowing them to act with confidence, track outcomes and reward results. That's the foundation we need. And that's why what we do at Agricarbon matters: Making reliable soil carbon data available at scale, globally. So that the ground truth can drive the right action. Because what we measure, gets protected. #soilhealth #carbonremovals #regenerativeagriculture #foodsystemresilience

Our food system is at a crossroads. It’s already been there for a while, but we have been ignoring its signals. The current path keeps chasing efficiency. Maximising yield, reducing nutritional value, trying to take shortcuts and neglecting the soil. The other builds resilience. It actively restores the natural systems that make production possible in the first place. Quantis’ new report, Fork in the Road, captures this choice well. The risks from climate change are already clearly visible: declining soil health, higher reliance on crop inputs, yield – and thus price – volatilities, and increasing exposure to drought and floods. Healthy soils sit at the heart of the solution. They store water longer, hold more carbon, harbour life, and have the ability to stabilise yields through extremes. It’s not just about ‘managing climate change’, it’s actual risk management and ensuring a healthy future for our food system. If we want to feed a growing population while cutting emissions, resilience has to start below ground. It starts with the soil that’s been treated as dirt. 🔗 Link to Quantis report in the comments #foodsystem #soilhealth #regenerativeagriculture #climatechange #resilience Photo: Elizabeth Lies via Unsplash
