  • As part of our ongoing #PROTECT-S Project funded by ADRA Netherlands - Eijkelenboom Kinderfonds, learners in #Kismayo shared who they dream of becoming in the future. Capturing these voices during the #UniversalChildren’sDay2025 celebrations was a powerful reminder of why we continue working to build safe, inclusive, and resilient school environments for displacement-affected girls and boys. Their hopes and ambitions reaffirm the importance of protecting their rights, strengthening SRGBV prevention and response systems, and ensuring every child feels safe enough to imagine a brighter tomorrow. We thank ADRA Netherlands - Eijkelenboom Kinderfonds for helping us nurture spaces where children can learn, dream, and thrive.

Through #PROTECT-S project funded by ADRA Netherlands - Eijkelenboom Kinderfonds, we are working to create #safe, #inclusive, and #resilient school spaces by strengthening prevention, response, and accountability systems around school-related gender-based violence (#SRGBV). On a day dedicated to amplifying children’s rights, we reaffirm that safety and protection are not privileges, they are fundamental rights that every girl and boy deserves. However, this day reminds us that children should not just attend school, they should thrive, feel protected, and be empowered to raise their voices without fear. We thank ADRA Netherlands - Eijkelenboom Kinderfonds for the support in making this vision possible. Together, we are strengthening systems, communities, and learning spaces so that every child can grow in an environment that truly protects and values them. Happy Universal Children's Day 2025 ! • #Kismayo:Somalia Today, through the #ASPIRE Project funded by Norad - Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, we as ADRA Somali had the privilege of hosting a vibrant and inspiring event to mark the #InternationalChildrensDay2025. Through interactive sessions, we emphasized the importance of children’s rights: their right to protection, to education, and to be heard. We also encouraged all of parents, educators, and community members to actively listen, support, and stand up for those rights not just today but every day. We thank Norad - Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation for the support and making sure on such a day no child is left out and also assuring education is equal to all. Let’s all continue amplifying young voices, defending their rights, and building a world where every child’s day truly belongs to them. #HappyInternationationChildrensDay2025 ADRA Norway ADRA Norge

  • INCLUSIVITY ISN’T A CHOICE, IT’S A RESPONSIBILITY. This week, as we mark #InternationalChildren’sDay2025 (ICD2025), we are reminded of the shared responsibility we all carry to protect every child’s right to learn, grow, and feel safe. Children everywhere deserve environments where they are supported, respected, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Inclusivity is not optional; it is a fundamental pillar of quality education. Ensuring that classrooms are accessible, equitable, and free from barriers is essential, especially for children affected by displacement, poverty, or disability. When we create inclusive learning spaces, we give every child the opportunity to thrive. Through a support from Education Cannot Wait (ECW) we continue to transform education for crisis-affected communities in Somalia and its only through such supports thousands of children in Somalia get access to meaningful, safe, and quality learning opportunities that shape brighter futures.

  • #Inclusiveeducation isn’t just about enrollment , it’s about belonging, dignity, and opportunity. In Somalia, countless children face barriers that prevent them from learning, especially those with disabilities or from displaced communities. Through a support from Education Cannot Wait (ECW), we are breaking those barriers one school at a time. We are working closely with teachers, parents, and community leaders to create learning spaces that reflect equity and compassion. From teacher training to accessibility improvements, every step will ensure that learners are not only present in class but are fully engaged and supported in their journey. Our efforts goes beyond education because it builds confidence, resilience, and social inclusion. Learners who were once isolated will now participate freely, express themselves through sign language, and dream of brighter futures. With Education Cannot Wait (ECW)'s support, we commit to ensure that every child in Somalia regardless of gender, ability, or background can learn in safety and hope. Because when every child learns, the whole nation rises. #EducationForAll

Through Norad - Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation and ADRA Norway's support we will continue to empower communities and change lives with Compassion, Justice and Love because we believe one change at a time will build an empowered society in the future and as Kofi Annan said, “There is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women.” #WomenEmpowerment

Meet Khadijo Hassan, a mother of seven from Kismayo whose story reminds us what hope and opportunity can do. 🧵 After being displaced from her home, Khadijo struggled to rebuild her life. But through ADRA Somalia’s ASPIRE Project, she received training in tailoring, a sewing machine, and the support she needed to start her own business. Today, she designs and sells children’s clothing from home—earning an income, providing for her family, and inspiring other women in her community to believe in their potential. When women learn skills, families thrive. When families thrive, communities grow. #ADRA #EndPoverty #EmpowerWomen #SustainableChange

«When women learn skills, families thrive. When families thrive, communities grow.» ADRA Norge’s education programme isn’t just about getting children to learn in primary schools. It’s also about equiping women for decent jobs, like this example from our partner ADRA Somali 💪

#Kismayo, Somalia : We officially kicked off the induction of #Protect-S, funded by ADRA Netherlands - Eijkelenboom Kinderfonds and supported by #EOMetterDAAD. The project aims to promote rights and empower communities to tackle school-related gender-based violence (SRGBV) ensuring that children, especially girls, can learn in safe and supportive environments. The induction brought together key education stakeholders, community leaders, teachers, and youth representatives to discuss the realities of SRGBV in schools and the shared responsibility of ending it. Through #Protect-S, as ADRA Somali we will engage schools and communities in awareness creation, teacher capacity building, and advocacy to strengthen child protection systems. We believe #Protect-S will represents a vital step toward building inclusive, gender-responsive schools in Somalia. Together, we look forward in transforming learning spaces into environments where children can grow, dream, and thrive free from fear. ADRA International
