Jo Lee joined RCP 21 years ago after starting her working life in nursing, bringing a perspective that quickly proved invaluable on hospital projects. What began as a support role at Auckland City Hospital grew into a career shaped by curiosity, problem solving and a strong instinct for how clinical and community spaces need to function.   As RCP expanded, so did Jo’s responsibilities. She moved from early healthcare refurbishments into major projects across education, commercial development and community infrastructure, including Middlemore Hospital, the UoA Newmarket Campus, Commercial Bay and more recently Southern Cross Hospital and the significant Parihaka Infrastructure Project in Taranaki.   Today, Jo is an Associate and part of RCP’s leadership team. Her practical, people-focused approach continues to guide teams through complex environments, keeping projects moving with clarity and care.   Congratulations Jo and thank you for everything you have contributed over the past 21 years.

Ngā Wai Ngaro, the new Acute Mental Health Unit at Palmerston North Hospital, marks a major investment in the delivery of mental health care in Aotearoa. Replacing an outdated facility, the purpose-built unit provides a safe, modern, and culturally grounded environment that supports recovery and wellbeing. Designed with input from clinicians, Rangitāne iwi, and the local community, it balances clinical functionality with therapeutic and cultural considerations throughout. RCP supported Te Whatu Ora Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral from design through to handover, providing project management and support post-completion for operational readiness. We’re proud to have contributed to a facility that strengthens mental health services and provides a supportive environment for patients, staff, and the wider community.

Building the Future from the Ground — and the Sky Hamish Miller, Senior Project Manager at RCP, is helping deliver the New Dunedin Hospital. His role spans design coordination, change management, and ensuring transparency across the build. Since 2023, Hamish has also been flying drones over the site, capturing over 1,300 aerial images and creating weekly 3D renders to support planning and documentation. Every flight is carefully planned under strict safety protocols, especially within the Dunedin Hospital’s heli-path. The roof is now in place at One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha, with the final ETFE cushions recently installed.   ETFE might not draw attention at first glance, but it plays a critical role in how the stadium will perform. These lightweight, transparent panels allow natural light into the stadium while keeping out wind and rain, creating the right conditions for the turf to thrive and the venue to operate in all weather conditions. They’re also incredibly durable, built to handle the elements for decades to come. This milestone is a clear reflection of the care and thinking behind the project. With each step, the project moves closer to opening and the full stadium experience coming to life.

The restoration of Old Choral Hall at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland, has reached Practical Completion, marking an important milestone in preserving one of the city’s most historic buildings.   Originally built in 1872, the Category 1 listed landmark has been carefully renewed to balance heritage character with modern functionality. Detailed conservation work, structural strengthening and new building services have given the Hall a new lease on life while protecting its original charm.   RCP led the delivery from main procurement through to completion, working closely with a team of heritage specialists, engineers and contractors to manage the challenges of a live campus environment and a structure with more than 150 years of history.   The result is a revitalised Old Choral Hall that celebrates its past while supporting the future of the university and its community. A massive congratulations to the University of Auckland and the project team — Architectus, Aspec Construction Limited, Archifact, Beca, Barnes Beagley Doherr Ltd
