Over 150 hours of train delays in Luxembourg, just from falling trees. According to L'essentiel, in the past five years, tree falls have caused 9,028 minutes of disruption on Luxembourg’s railways. The Luxembourg–Troisvierges line has been the most impacted, with additional effects on tram and bus services. At WEO🌍, we’re proud to be collaborating with CFL - Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois to address exactly this problem. -Using satellite data and AI, we’ve piloted tools to identify high-risk vegetation zones near railway lines, helping prioritise where to intervene before disruptions occur. -By predicting where trees may fall or encroach on tracks, our platform helps optimise maintenance, reduce service interruptions, and support resilience in transport infrastructure. -As extreme weather becomes more frequent, proactive vegetation monitoring isn’t just smart, it’s essential. #WEO🌍 #RailResilience #VegetationMonitoring #SatelliteData #CFL #SmartMaintenance #ClimateAdaptation #MobilityLuxembourg #AIforGood #TransportResilience #TreeRisk #UrbanInfrastructure

🇪🇺 Honoured to have taken part in the 7th European Parliament of Enterprises (#EPE2025) in Brussels as part of the Luxembourg delegation, hosted by Eurochambres and the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. The atmosphere in the Hemicycle was powerful, over 700 entrepreneurs debating the real, immediate challenges facing European businesses today. And it was clear: Europe’s businesses must be heard. From WEO🌍’s perspective, several themes stood out: - The future of the single market is at a crossroads. As MEP Charles Goerens reminded us, we’re in a critical moment for the EU one that demands unity at the center and caution against fragmentation. The big member states may be diverging, but SMEs like ours rely on a functioning and fair European market to thrive and scale. - Regulation vs entrepreneurship must not be a zero-sum game. As Marc Angel noted, rules are vital to uphold EU values but they must enable innovation, not hinder it. Especially for deep tech SMEs and startups working on complex challenges like climate adaptation. - Public procurement came into focus as a strategic lever: if we want to maintain European leadership and promote sustainability, we must ensure that green and innovation-driven procurement is more accessible, especially across borders. It was a pleasure to engage in these conversations and to represent the perspective of a purpose-driven SME working at the intersection of space, AI, and climate resilience. We left re-energised by the strong call from Eurochambres President Vladimír Dlouhý to move from discussion to real action through simplification, better support tools, and measurable progress. Let’s keep the conversation going and ensure SMEs remain central to Europe’s vision for a more resilient, competitive, and united future.

Yesterday’s EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme event at Technopolis brought together an inspiring mix of humanitarian practitioners, technologists, and policy leaders, all working to unlock the power of space for societal good. Our CTO, Charlotte Wirion, had the honour of presenting WEO🌍’s work on using satellite analytics to support community-led disaster preparedness, drawing from our CoRelief platform and collaborations with the Australian Red Cross and the Dargo community in rural Victoria. Key themes from the day: - Geospatial data must not only be reliable it must be accessible and understandable to those on the frontlines. - Stronger collaboration between technology providers and humanitarian actors is essential to bridge operational realities with innovation. - Making Earth observation truly impactful means building with and not only for the people it’s meant to serve. Charlotte particularly appreciated the insightful contributions from emergency.lu and the Luxembourg Red Cross, both of which shared real-world challenges and the clear opportunity to better support humanitarian response with tailored, ethical tech. It was also a pleasure to connect with, Alex Vorobiev and David Francken from Starion, Guy Schumann from RSS-Hydro, Paolo Campanella from WASDI and Marco Chini from Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) In his closing remarks, Marc Serres (Luxembourg Space Agency) perfectly summed up the day: bridging advanced space technologies with humanitarian needs holds tremendous potential. We couldn’t agree more. #WEO🌍 #EUSPA #SpaceForSociety #DisasterPreparedness #SatelliteData #AIforGood #GeospatialTech #HumanitarianInnovation #CoRelief #ClimateResilience #SharedValue #LuxembourgInnovation #WomenInTech

In the remote Alpine town of Dargo, VIC, Australian Red Cross partnered with WEO🌍 and the local community to pilot a deceptively simple idea, a map. But this wasn’t just any map. It was a co-designed, hyperlocal platform built with satellite data, AI, and most importantly, community insight. Through the QBE AcceliCITY Humanitarian Challenge, this project became a living example of what happens when tech meets trust. Locals didn’t just adopt the tool, they reshaped it. From identifying flood-prone roads to mapping community-owned generators and Wi-Fi spots, the platform evolved to reflect what truly matters to Dargo. 💡 What made it work? * Starting with lived experience, not tech specs * Designing with the community, not for them * Embedding local champions to build trust and capability * Adapting systems to allow real collaboration Now, the platform is part of Dargo’s planning fabric, used in meetings, disaster prep, and even funding applications. This isn’t just a case study. It’s a blueprint for scaling trust, not just technology.
