The PlayStation “Demon Sumo Wrestler” activation at Ryogoku Station may have finished its run – but the internet is still going crazy for it, with many calling it “the coolest ad they’ve ever seen!” dentsu and Sony turned a busy Tokyo station into a living billboard, projecting a massive 2.5 m × 18 m sumo wrestler in the heart of sumo country. The activation ran for two weeks and was designed to sync perfectly with the 5:35 PM train arrival, creating a rare, living moment where the digital sumo came to life and interacted with the train. Triple win for Tropicana Brands Group – and a proud night for dentsu X!🏆 We’re thrilled to celebrate Tropicana’s 3x wins at The Drum Awards for Media 2025 for their “Rewarded Achievement” activation with Overwolf, taking home awards for Best In-Game Ad Campaign, Best Entertainment & Consumer Technology Campaign and Best Interactive or Gamified Experience. The campaign, negotiated and run by dentsu X, was built around a simple insight: gamers get hungry and thirsty after 78 minutes of play. For Naked Smoothie’s first step into gaming, we created custom in-game rewarded messages that appeared during extended play – cheering players on, celebrating milestones and surfacing messages right when they were most likely to need a drink or snack. Engaging over 1 million players, logging 48,000 hours of deep playtime and driving double-digit brand lift, this campaign shows the power of understanding your audience, meeting them where they are and delivering experiences that truly resonate.
