Blancpain staff volunteer for nature from the Jura Vaudois to the Vallée de Joux ! Last June, Blancpain team members traded their desks for hiking boots to join an eco-volunteering day in the Parc naturel régional du Jura Vaudois, near our Manufacture. Guided by local experts, the team worked together to remove Canadian goldenrod, an invasive plant species that threatens the balance of the ecosystem and rare orchids such as the Ophrys apifera. Building on this momentum and driven by the same desire to give back to our community and surroundings, on 30 September another group of colleagues and apprentices took part in the Water Lover Challenge, collecting cigarette butts and litter around the lakes of the Vallée de Joux. Beyond the clean-up itself, the day was an opportunity to better understand the impact of small everyday actions — for example, a single cigarette butt can pollute up to 1,000 litres of water. Both initiatives were not just about conservation — they were about working together outside the workplace, discovering the richness of our local environment, and making a concrete contribution to its preservation. Meaningful experiences of teamwork and connection, rooted in our local environment.

A true icon of underwater exploration and photography, Laurent Ballesta is a diver and marine biologist whose Gombessa Expeditions — supported by Blancpain since 2013 — have unveiled some of the ocean’s rarest creatures and phenomena. A master of the deep, he unites science, exploration, and art to reveal its hidden wonders. As a judge for the Ocean Photographer of the Year 2025, he brings his vision and passion to selecting the images that reveal the ocean at its most extraordinary. For the first time, this year’s judging panel came together in person at our headquarters in Switzerland — reviewing thousands of images from across the globe. From breathtaking beauty to compelling environmental storytelling, each photograph reflects the ocean’s rhythm, wonders and depth. Exploring the unseen depths of Tubbataha Reefs Led by Laurent Ballesta and the Gombessa Expeditions team, with the support of Blancpain, this expedition marked the first deep diving campaign in Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Philippines. The mission combined scientific research, underwater imagery, and the adventure of diving beyond -120 meters. In just 13 days, the divers completed 13 deep dives and logged 208 hours underwater. Along this journey, they revealed 8 distinct ecosystems, recorded 108 fish species (including 10 never before observed in Tubbataha), and documented an extraordinary diversity of gorgonians, sponges, and cowries. These results provide essential knowledge for the protection of fragile deep-reef ecosystems, while photography and film open a rare window into their hidden beauty.
