Four single-piece edition watches showcasing 300 hours of artistic craftsmanship The 'Homage to Epic Warriors' timepieces from the new Les Cabinotiers series named 'La Quête' celebrate four great heroes of history and mythology, while showcasing the savoir-faire of the Maison’s master artisans. On each of the 18K 2N yellow gold dials, the hero of the piece is miniature painted in grand feu enamel against a background reflecting the events of their time. To create this, the master enameller applies a suspension of crushed enamel pigment with ultra-fine brushes, sometimes only a single hair thick, to create a subtle texture of matt and shiny surfaces that play with the effects of light. The dials are complemented by hand-engraved 41mm cases using the taille-douce line engraving technique. As such, the cases are decorated with thousands of fine incisions in the metal, each only 1/10 to 2/10 of a millimetre thick, creating visually rich patterns. Harmonising Precision and Artistry Vacheron Constantin unveils two 25-piece limited editions dedicated to the Year of the Horse through the Métiers d'Art The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac series. The timepieces, available in 950 platinum or 18K 5N pink gold, are powered by the self-winding manufacture Calibre 2460 G4, designed to create an expansive canvas for the decorative arts, thanks to the absence of conventional hands. Instead, a system of four discs displays the indications in apertures positioned around the periphery of the dial. The dial showcases a horse leaping over a rock, achieved through relief engraving, micro-painting, and grand feu enamelling. A mariage of tradition and modernity To create the Métiers d’Art – Tribute to the Quest of Time timepiece, a variety of highly specialised artistic crafts were brought together in a deft marriage of traditional and modern techniques. As a first example, the dial is constructed from two layers of sapphire crystal with the blue gradient effect and the 1755 sky chart being created by metallisation. Another example is the spherical precision 3D moon, which is made of titanium, with one side finished with a golden PVD treatment and the ‘dark’ side finished with a deep blue PVD treatment.
