⛔️Ten, fifteen years ago, the path for internationally trained physicians in Canada looked very different. ⚠️It was a maze of closed doors, dead ends, and impossible hurdles. Go back twenty or twenty-five years, and it was even tougher 🤯 If you were a surgeon trained in Iran or Pakistan, forget trying to continue that career here. If you were a family physician from India or the Philippines, good luck finding a way back into practice. Canada’s message then was clear: you may be skilled, but you don’t belong in our system!!!🤯 But things have changed! Slowly. Painfully. But surely!!! We’ve seen IMGs, ITPs, and IEHPs rise through resilience. We’ve built organizations, advocacy groups, and communities that refuse to stay silent. And yet, here we are again, watching new policies roll out that risk undoing years of progress. The recent Ontario decision restricting residency applications to those who attended high school in the province feels like a step backward, not just for doctors, but for a healthcare system already on its knees. ❌Half of Canada’s physicians are burned out. ❌6.5 million Canadians don’t have a family doctor. ❌Emergency rooms are closing. ❌Wait times are exploding. ❎And thousands of qualified international doctors and healthcare professionals are still waiting; ready to serve, but locked out. This is why the International Medical Graduate Conference & Expo (IMGCE) was born. To bridge the divide. To dispel misinformation. To restore hope. To bring together the voices of provincial and national stakeholders, both public and private partners and countless others fighting for equity and fairness in healthcare. Because when associations, educators, employers, and policymakers come together, it sends a powerful message: The voices of IMGs and ITPs are being heard. And this fight is not over. To those who are discouraged, you are sidelined, not silenced. To those losing hope, you are delayed, not denied. To those feeling invisible, you are the pulse that keeps Canadian healthcare alive. From the physicians associates to the clinical assistance to the bedside aides, and to all those highly educated and trained international doctors, nurses, dentist, and pharmacists, who chose to go into a profession that helps those who are sick and in a time of need…WE SEE YOU! Now more than ever, the IMG Conference & Expo is needed. Needed to open doors. Needed to build bridges. Needed to remind Canada that the world has already trained the healers it so desperately needs. June 19–21, 2026, we gather again. Not as outsiders, but as advocates, educators, healers, and change-makers. To policymakers, employers, educators, and every Canadian who believes in fairness: gear up and show up! IMGCE2026 Is going to different! Because Canada celebrates difference! Because this is not just about IMGs; it’s about the future of healthcare in Canada! 🔥🇨🇦

In the aftermath of the recent provincial changes to IMG/ITP application requirements for residency in 2026, we've decided to be more intentional with #IMGCE2026 and while we expand on our footprint and programming over three days, inviting more representation across multiple professions with meaningful programming, the theme will be "🇨🇦 Building Canada’s Future Healthcare Together Through Global Talent!" While specialists and primary care had their own event, and medical students and residents celebrated their own acheivements, IMGs and ITPS (and IEHPs) never had a platform, a community, an annual event - until NOW! To vision was always to establish a 3-day multipspeaker conference, exhibitor tradeshow and recruitment fair that is familiy-friendly, inclusive and above all, result-driven! As we gear up for #IMGCE2026, June 19–21, 2026, we’re expanding our stage to include not just international medical graduates, but also internationally educated nurses, pharmacists, and dentists. Because this isn’t just about matching doctors, it’s about fixing healthcare in Canada. It’s about inclusion, recognition, and the courage to keep showing up, even when the system says no. We're excited to welcome NEW and returning vendors and partners, sponsors and speakers for what is sure to be a deeply meaningful, eye-opening and career advancing event! Join the movement. Join the conversation.

📣We at MRX North Communications Inc., the team behind the International Medical Graduate Conference & Expo #IMGCE, are deeply saddened and concerned by the recent announcement from the Government of Ontario regarding the changes to the CaRMS 2025–2026 residency match cycle. Under these new directives, only Internationally Trained Physicians (ITPs) and International Medical Graduates (IMGs) who attended high school in Ontario will be eligible to participate in the first iteration of the residency match. This policy effectively excludes hundreds of qualified, skilled, and highly educated immigrant physicians who live, work, and contribute to our province every single day; physicians who have dedicated their lives to the practice of medicine and to serving Canadians. This decision is not just disappointing and disheartening but a step in the wrong direction! It undermines years of progress made toward inclusion, equity, and diversity within our healthcare system especially in these last few years - we have seen it culminate into an amazing ecosystem through our events! And for decades, Ontario’s internationally trained physicians have been a cornerstone of our healthcare infrastructure, especially in rural and underserved regions where physician shortages are most severe. These are the very doctors who have been willing and ready to serve communities where help is most needed, who have volunteered in clinics, cared for our seniors, supported community health drives, and called Ontario home. To now tell these same physicians, many of whom are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, that they are not “Canadian enough” to apply in the first iteration of CaRMS in Ontario is profoundly unjust and contrary to the principles of fairness and opportunity that Canada stands for. At MRX North, our mission has always been to create platforms for dialogue, collaboration, and advancement, bringing together stakeholders from the public and private sectors, healthcare institutions, licensing bodies, and internationally trained professionals across medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and dentistry. The IMG Conference & Expo was built to help bridge gaps, amplify voices, and showcase the immense potential of internationally trained talent in strengthening Canada’s healthcare system. Today, we reaffirm that mission. We stand in solidarity with the internationally trained physician community and with every healthcare professional who believes in a fair and inclusive system. There must be common ground - we are playing with people’s lives! Ontario (and Canada) need every qualified doctor and those that aspire to become one! Our patients, our communities, and our future healthcare system depend on it. To all the IMGs and ITPs across Canada and around the world who continue to persevere despite countless barriers, we see you, we stand with you, and we remain committed to advocating for you through every platform we create.

🔥 This past weekend, I had the honour of being invited as one of the speakers at the JMFOA Conference in Toronto! A truly special gathering that brought together alumni of the Jaffna Medical Faculty from across the globe. As the CEO of MedSckool Reviews, MedShips Canada and MRX North Communications Inc., the brains behind the IMG Conference & Expo (#IMGCE), I’ve been privileged to advocate for and walk alongside international medical graduates (IMGs) and internationally trained physicians (ITPs) on their often-challenging journey into licensed practice in Canada! At this year’s JMFOA event, I was invited to speak about the pathways into medical school and the evolving landscape for IMGs and ITPs. What made it even more meaningful was the chance to connect directly with high school and university students, current medical students, and IMGs/ITPs, all hungry for clarity, direction, and hope…so to help shed some light and offer some meaningful advice was wonderful! I live for this kind of stuff 😬 Super thankful to Dr Nirosshan Thiruchelvam MD, FACP, FCCP, CHSE and Dr. MYLASHAN Mylvaganam MBBS, LMCC, FRSPH,CHE,FFMLM and their entire team for the kind invitation and warm hospitality. Special shout out to Thesan Ramanan BEng, MASc, EIT 💪 and all the other speakers and panelists! Thank you for believing in the work we’re doing and for creating space for these vital conversations. You know - there’s something powerful about being in a room full of diaspora physicians from your own community; people who carry not only medical expertise but a deep-rooted legacy from Jaffna to the world. And as a proud #JaffnaBoy, knowing my parents left Sri Lanka in the 80s because of the civil war and what the country went through and more importantly, what all these Tamil physicians endured as they earned their degrees and continued to push through all the adversity to find themselves now practicing around the world - I left feeling inspired and excited! Now I’m super stoked for future collaborations and the impact we can continue to make together! 💪🔥👏 #JMFOA #IMGCE2025 #IMGPathways #InternationalMedicalGraduates #JaffnaMedicalFaculty #DiasporaDoctors #MRXNorth #GlobalHealthLeadership #HopeAndDirection #TorontoEvents #MedSchoolJourney #StrongerTogether
