𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐭𝐨 𝐔𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞, 𝐑𝐚𝐯𝐢 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐚𝐫, 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐕𝐍𝐌𝐔 On July 31, Mr. Ravi Shankar, who has been the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Ukraine since May 2024, had a working visit to Vinnytsia National Medical University. On behalf of the rector of VNMU Victoria Petrushenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical and Educational Work Inna Andrushko familiarized Mr. Ravi with the university's experience in educating young people from India (about 40 years) and the current working conditions of the institution. She emphasized that the university is deeply grateful to each of the Indian students who, despite the beginning of full-scale Russian aggression, remained to study at VNMU, thus supporting Ukrainians. Mr. Ravi and Inna Andrushko discussed the educational opportunities that the university currently provides to international students: accredited English-language programs in medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry, and a one-year English-language internship. The Ambassador also spoke with students from India, toured the university buildings, the Scientific Library, the stadium, and the shelter.

The project develops the third mission of universities - improving the life of society through cooperation with local communities. Universities from Ukraine, Sweden, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic and Latvia, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, public organizations and foundations participate in the implementation of UNICOM. Mekaton UA is a key event of the UNICOM project. The focus of Mekaton is on solving current challenges of local development using the latest information technologies, training students, supporting startups, and forming partnerships between universities and their stakeholders. The rivals of VNMU students in the Mekaton were 9 teams from six higher education institutions: M. Dragomanov Ukrainian State University, I. Franko Lviv National University, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics,Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, Sumy National Agrarian University, Melitopol B. Khmelnytsky State Pedagogical University. During the two-day competition, a team of 3rd year students of group 5a of the Medical Faculty No. 1 of VNMU, Anastasia Demchakova, Darya Pidlisna, Sofia Rachuk, and Yehor Yaromenko, with the support of a participant from Vinnytsia Technical University, created and implemented a meteobot. This AI-based information system is designed for people who may be weather-dependent. The bot does not provide medical advice, but it remembers the history of requests and is able to warn about adverse natural phenomena that may affect human health. After several calls to the bot, it can personalize its responses to the user's request. The technical solutions developed by the student teams were evaluated by representatives of higher education institutions from Germany, Sweden, Italy, and Ukraine. The winners of the fierce competition were the teams from VNMU and SNAU, who equally shared the main prize of the Mekaton. Now the team, together with their mentors — Head of the Department of Hygiene and General Ecology, Associate Professor Olga Bratkova, and Professor Victoria Rodinkova — are considering expanding the practical application of the meteobot.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐀𝐀𝐂𝐈 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝-𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐕𝐍𝐌𝐔 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 The annual congress of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) is an extraordinary event in world allergology, which for the third consecutive decade has also welcomed allergists from VNMU. This year, the event, which brought together thousands of participants from all over the world, took place on June 13-16 in Glasgow (Scotland). 👨🔬 The powerful allergology school of VNMU was represented at the congress by Artem Bogomolov, professor of the Department of Phthisiology with a course in clinical allergology and immunology, and Viktoria Rodinkova, professor of the Department of Pharmacy. In total, the scientists brought 5 poster presentations to the international arena. In particular, Professor Bogomolov presented the results of scientific research in the field of artificial intelligence - on how chatbots with artificial intelligence can influence decision-making and behavior of patients with allergies. 👩🔬 The posters of Professor Rodinkova and her students were aimed at: • changes in the sensitization of Ukrainians due to the war; • the peculiarities of the Ukrainian population's hypersensitivity to trees; • an assessment of the structure of hypersensitivity of Vinnytsia residents to mushrooms; • the connection between allergy to cereals and allergy to the Alternaria fungus. 👉 A surprise of the congress was the mention of the work of the team led by Professor Rodinkova on the sensitivity of Ukrainians to cereal pollen. The article, quoted by German scientist Stephanie Dramburg from the big screen at the plenary session dedicated to climate change, also demonstrated the peculiarities of sensitivity to traditional temperate and tropical cereals in Ukraine. Vinnytsia scientists also held meetings with international colleagues and partners, and participated in the work of the group on anaphylaxis, aerobiology, and disease. 📌Another result of participation in the congress was an agreement to celebrate World Habitat Day (October 6) at VNMU with a lecture by American professor of allergology, immunology, and public health specialist Kari Nadeau. Work continues on the active involvement of Ukrainian allergology experts in international scientific research, and the participation of VNMU scientists in international expert groups.

Viktoriya Rodinkova, professor of the Department of Pharmacy of Vinnytsia National M.I. Pyrohov Medical University, became the president of the society. This is the first time in history that a representative from Ukraine has been elected to such a position. Victoria Rodinkova has been researching the impact of ragweed on public health for a long time, is engaged in the prevention of seasonal allergies, and collaborates with Ukrainian and international specialists in phytosanitary, meteorology, and bioinformatics. One of the important results of her work was the creation of an interactive module for hourly forecasting of ragweed pollen concentration for Ukraine. This tool, developed in cooperation with the Finnish Meteorological Institute and Vinnytsia National Technical University, allows to track allergen levels in the air in real time. The module is based on the European SILAM system, which is the only model that takes into account real pollen monitoring data. It was originally intended for military personnel on the front line. Moreover, as a deputy of the regional council, Viktoriya Rodinkova actively raises the issue of the spread of ragweed at the local and national levels, participates in the formation of programs to combat the spread of invasive plants. Due to the war, some of the initiatives were suspended, but the scientist intends to contact the authorities with a proposal to resume relevant measures. The professor's work contributes to raising the population's environmental awareness, spreading evidence-based information about allergens, and strengthening the role of VNMU scientific developments in Ukraine and beyond.

Among the speakers at the event, an important role belonged to women scientists and engineers, rectors and directors of educational and scientific institutions, top-level managers, politicians, and heads of ministries. As Ms. Victoriia noted, she joined the summit mainly to intensify international contacts of VNMU. First of all, she was interested in interacting with the heads of the educational environment, assessing the prospects for creating double degree programs, and establishing a representative infrastructure of VNMU in Poland. The university is actively establishing contacts with colleagues from the University of Lodz. An extremely promising direction seems to be ensuring academic mobility in the specialties of «Psychology», «Management», and «Public Health». Following her participation in the summit, Victoria Petrushenko signed the «Warsaw Women’s Declaration for the Future of Disruptive Technologies.»
