💡An evening (and terminal) full of ideas, innovation and future careers. Last week, Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) welcomed past and present Institute of Applied Technology students for a night focused on careers in Western Sydney as WSI gears up for 24/7 flights in the second half of 2026. From a stacked panel discussing tech and innovation to terminal tours and job info stands, guests had a first-hand look at the future of air travel in Sydney and met partners and stakeholders ready to build their teams as Western Sydney prepares for take-off. Huge thanks to Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Australian Border Force, Amadeus, dnata, Advance Manufacturing Readiness Facility, Parklife Metro and ADCO Constructions  and dnata Retail and Catering for sharing their expertise with tomorrow’s talent. This event is part of WSI’s commitment to nurture the next generation of aviation and STEM professionals through practical, accessible pathways. National recognition for safety excellence – we couldn’t be prouder of Team WSI!🏆 Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport has been recognised at the 2025 Comcare National Work Health and Safety Awards – winning the Judges’ Choice Award and earning a Commendation in the Prevention Category. This achievement celebrates safety innovation in action. Our team developed a Psychosocial Risk Management framework to keep people safe and well – it uses multiple data points to help reduce risk and improve wellbeing. Safety is one of our core values – and always will be. As we gear up for 24/7 operations next year, we’ll keep looking for new ways to reduce risk and enhance wellbeing across everything we do. At 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport will pause to honour those who have served in all wars and peacekeeping operations. We’re also reflecting on the legacy of our namesake, Nancy-Bird Walton. Her pioneering career in civil aviation was matched by her wartime leadership. During WW2, she led major volunteer efforts as Commandant of the Women’s Air Training Corps – first in New South Wales, then nationally – helping recruit and train women for the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. These women provided integral ground support for the Royal Australian Air Force.  We share her story today to recognise the many forms of service – and the courage, resilience, and sacrifice behind them. #LestWeForget #WSIAirport

History made at WSI today ✈️ A 737-jet touched down on our runway for the very first time – kicking off a full-scale emergency exercise with 300+ volunteers, emergency services (NSW Police Force, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW Ambulance) and federal agencies (Airservices Australia, Australian Federal Police and Australian Border Force). The landing of RFS’s Marie Bashir 737 marked the start of a two-day simulation, testing preparedness, response and recovery capabilities at Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird) Walton Airport (WSI) as part of our ongoing Operational Readiness Program. Trials, testing and flight path safety checks 🛩️… Western Sydney International Airport’s #OperationalReadinessProgram is ramping up as we prepare to open Sydney’s only 24/7 airport in the second half of 2026. Today, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) began safety checks at WSI, landing a twin-engine #CessnaConquest as part of ongoing testing. We also showcased some of what is going into the live trials across our terminal and broader airport precinct. From technology systems to operational assets, our team in close collaboration with critical agencies, will continue to rigorously test the infrastructure that will enable our round-the-clock passenger and cargo operations. #WSIAirport #WesternSydney #ExperienceWSI
