Each month, our people volunteer to share their knowledge through our Internal Expertise sessions. This month, Matthew S., our Security Engineer, led a session on 'Securing your personal life and those around you', covering topics like multi-factor authentication, reviewing IoT devices at home and how to approach security conversations with loved ones.

Betfair is an energetic and inspirational workplace. We’re proud of Team Betfair, we would back them any day of the week
About us
We are the world's largest, and Australia's only, peer-to-peer wagering platform. Unlike bookmakers or totes, we are a marketplace where supply meets demand. This means the markets are dynamic, fluid and efficient, which results in better value for our customers with better odds at low margins. We are also different to the rest of the wagering industry as we gain revenue through charging a small commission when a customer wins. So, unlike with the bookies, our customers don't get shut off or restricted for winning, in fact quite the opposite, we want our customers to win! Our purpose is to empower customers with a different betting experience.

Today we came together for R U OK? Day, joining a great session with our EAP provider Converge on mental health in the workplace. It was a good reminder that checking in with each other can make a big difference. We also enjoyed connecting over our lunch club, with an incredible Indian spread catered by Diva’s Catering. Highly recommend them if you’re looking for catering!

No one knows the Exchange better than our team. 🎙️ Yesterday, Karl Kaldawi, Tom Haylock & Liam Clancey hit the studio to record Lay Back with Betfair to share expert race analysis and market insights ahead of a huge weekend of racing. 🎧 Out now on our Spotify, or tune in on SEN tonight from 6–7pm weekly.

We wrapped up the financial year in true Betfair style, with pizza, games, and great company! Our EOFY Party featured a Casino Night (strictly no real money involved!). A big moment of the night was the announcement of our Annual Back Award winners, a well-earned recognition chosen from each of our monthly winners across FY25. It’s no small feat, and a huge nod to the impact these individuals have made all year. A huge congratulations to Malory Gearin our Annual Back Award Winner, and Samuel H. this year’s runner-up. 🏆 Special thanks to Samuel H. and his incredible team for bringing the night to life with classic casino games, and to our Connectors for organising another fantastic event. 👏

We’re grateful at Betfair Australia for the opportunity to learn from so many within the industry. We spoke with Melissa Ware from Racing Victoria who shared some fantastic insights on equine welfare, including the Off The Track program, supporting thousands of retired racehorses.

In June, we had the opportunity to hear from Angie Greene, CEO of Stand Up Events, as part of our Pride Month recognition. Growing up in a professional sporting family, Angie saw firsthand the barriers faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals in sport. She founded Stand Up Events to challenge discrimination and foster more inclusive sporting communities. Angie shared the impactful work her organisation leads, including a research collaboration with Monash University focused on reducing homophobic language, behaviour and attitudes in grassroots male sporting clubs. The program developed through this research was trialed across clubs in Victoria, with encouraging outcomes. We're grateful to Angie for sharing this work with us, you can find the full report in the carousel below.

To recognise NAIDOC Week, we enjoyed a catered Lunch Club by Pawa Catering, a proudly Aboriginal-owned business that specialises in showcasing the incredible flavours of native ingredients, while promoting sustainability, environmental responsibility, and employment pathways for Aboriginal communities. Later that day, we watched Rabbit-Proof Fence as a team at The Backlot Studios, who provided the perfect space for the night. Big thanks to our Connectors team for organising everything, to Pawa Catering for the amazing food and to The Backlot Studios for having us.

This morning, we took part in the Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, raising funds to support cancer research, prevention, and support services for those affected by cancer. The Betfair team brought in an amazing spread of baked goods and homemade dishes, making it such a wholesome way to start the day together and for a good cause. Every donation was matched $1 for $1 by our incredible Connectors, and we’re so proud to have surpassed our $1000 fundraising goal. Huge thank you to everyone who baked, donated and joined us this morning. #BiggestMorningTea

Today we're recognising Brenton Genford, our Senior Payments Specialist based in Darwin, who is celebrating an incredible 18 years with Betfair! Brenton began his journey in what was known as the Customer Experience team in Hobart, relocating to the new Darwin office to help set up and run our overnight team and continues to make a big impact to our payments team. His commitment and steady presence have helped shape the strong foundations of our team in Darwin. While we're shining a light on Brenton today, we also want to acknowledge and thank all of our long-standing team members whose loyalty and contributions have helped make Betfair what it is today. We may not always get to tell every story publicly but each one is deeply valued. Here's to Brenton - congratulations on 18 years!
