Today, at 11 am on the 11th day of the 11th month, Australians will pause for one minute of silence to remember those who have served and sacrificed in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. Remembrance Day marks the anniversary of the Armistice of November 1918, which ended World War I. It is a time to reflect on courage, loss and the ongoing legacy of those who have fought for our nation. Students can explore how remembrance shapes Australia’s national identity through the Australian Curriculum: HASS in Year 3 and World War I in History in Year 9.
