National Recycling Week kicks off today and it is a reminder that small, consistent actions at home, at work and in our communities can make a big difference. For educators, it’s the perfect time to focus on how the Australian Curriculum: Science and Technologies supports students to learn about materials, designed solutions and sustainability. Students can investigate recycling, understand how everyday choices impact the environment, and take meaningful action toward a more sustainable future. Discover these resources from STAY TUNED TO OUR PLANET aka STTOP to explore how e-waste impacts the environment. https://brnw.ch/21wXlmc #NationalRecyclingWeek #Sustainability #JoinTheCycle

On National Recycling Day we catch up with Yue Xi a PhD candidate from Social Marketing @ Griffith as she tackles one of the world’s fastest-growing waste challenges: e-waste. Through co-designed, community-led campaigns grounded in behavioural science, she has diverted more than two tonnes of e-waste from landfill and tripled battery drop-off rates in partnership with Sunshine Coast Council. Her work bridges research and real-world action, empowering communities to embrace safer, more sustainable waste behaviours. Griffith Sustainability #NationalRecyclingDay

Following on from yesterday’s post, I thought I’d put some of this recycling theory into practice! I asked my wife and niece to take part in a little “recycling challenge” — identifying which items belong in the recycling bin and which should go to general waste. It’s always interesting to see how even within one household, there can be different interpretations of what’s recyclable and what’s not. And honestly, they’re not alone — the confusion is everywhere. These short videos are a light-hearted way to highlight just how tricky recycling can be in the real world, even for those of us who try to do the right thing. Have a watch, see how you’d go, and let me know in the comments — would you have made the same choices? Next videos coming through shortly. #RecyclingWeek #CircularEconomy #Packaging #Sustainability #RecyclingEducation #AIP

#TechRecycling - Reduce. Reuse. Repair. Recycle. 🎙️ Cristina Neacsu, CSR Manager at GreenGroup, explains how CSR (corporate social responsibility) projects foster meaningful connections between a company and its community. She highlights initiatives in education, healthcare, and environmental stewardship that create lasting value for people, society, and the planet. Follow the content, share it within your network, and help raise awareness about waste collection, recycling, and the circular economy. ------------ #TechRecycling is an educational initiative that brings recycling closer to consumers by clearly explaining how waste can become valuable resources. 🗣️ Through the voices of industry experts, we provide essential information on recycling, the circular economy, sustainability, and relevant legislation. 🎯 The goal? To help people understand, take action, and contribute to a more responsible future. #GreenTech #TechRecycling #PETRecycling #CircularEconomy #Education #Sustainability

🌍 Recycling Education Matters — and It Starts With Us. ♻️ At Big Scrappers, we believe that true sustainability begins with knowledge. Because when people understand why recycling matters, they naturally start making choices that protect the planet. Here are a few powerful truths we share with our community every day: ♻️ Recycling aluminum saves 95% of the energy needed to produce new aluminum. ♻️ One recycled can = one step closer to cleaner cities and healthier communities. ♻️ Education leads to action — and action leads to real environmental impact. Our mission is simple but strong: Make recycling accessible, rewarding, and part of everyday life. Through the Big Scrappers platform, we’re teaching thousands of people how to: 🔹 Recycle smarter 🔹 Exchange materials for points 🔹 Reduce waste 🔹 Support a circular economy 🔹 Build a greener future for the next generation Sustainability isn’t achieved overnight — it’s built through education, awareness, and consistent action. 💚 Let’s keep learning, keep recycling, and keep moving forward. #BigScrappers #RecyclingEducation #Sustainability #GreenFuture #CircularEconomy #EcoFriendly #UAE #Egypt #Recycling #Environment #Innovation

♻️ What Does the Circular Economy Actually Mean? With growing environmental pressures, the circular economy is often mentioned - but just as often misunderstood. Professor Prof Linda Godfrey, principal scientist at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), clarifies: 💬 “The circular economy is not a synonym for recycling, nor is it just waste management. It is about sustainable resource management.” It’s about rethinking how products are designed, used, reused, and recovered - to reduce waste and preserve resources across entire value chains. 🔗 Read the full breakdown: https://lnkd.in/dXNhGx8t

♻️ It's National Recycling Week, and I've got a question for you: Where does your recycling actually go after it leaves your bin? Here's the thing: most people don't know. And that’s where we can step in. At Veolia | Australia and New Zealand, we're obsessed with closing that loop — literally. We're not just collecting recyclables; we're transforming them into valuable resources. But here’s the truth: the latest innovations and technology alone won't get us there (although we’ve got plenty of it, like our AI sorting robot Big Jim). We need everyone to recycle right. This will lead to less contamination, more recovery, and real impact. So here's my ask: this National Recycling Week, learn one new thing about what can and can't go in your recycling bin. Share it with someone. Make it stick. Because ecological transformation doesn't happen in boardrooms — it happens in bins, at kerbsides, and in the choices we make every single day. Let's transform waste together. 🌱 💭 What's your biggest recycling question? Drop it in the comments—I'll do my best to answer.

♻️ Stop Wasting, Start Recycling! At CNTE, we recently launched an internal battery recycling campaign to promote green and responsible energy practices. Our employees responded enthusiastically—bringing in used batteries to exchange for rewards and take part in meaningful environmental action. All the collected batteries will be safely processed to extract reusable materials, reducing environmental impact and giving new life to valuable resources. This initiative reflects CNTE's long-term commitment to sustainable battery recycling and our mission to share cleaner energy with the world. 🌍⚡ #CNTE #BatteryRecycling #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #GreenAction #EcoFriendly

It's currently National Recycling Week, and this year’s theme, 'Rescue Me', is a reminder that materials do not fail us. Our systems do. Recycling alone cannot deliver a circular economy. The real shift happens when we design, consume and recover materials with intention, and when we refuse, reduce, repurpose, repair and reuse before recycling takes place. However, when recycling is necessary, it depends on the infrastructure that enables recovery and reuse on a large scale. At Sphere, we work on environmental infrastructure projects that strengthen the system behind circularity. These include advanced material recovery facilities, organics processing sites, and reprocessing precincts that recover essential materials and return them to productive use. To rescue materials, we must consider the full life cycle of products and invest in the infrastructure that keeps resources in circulation and preserves their value. Where have you seen infrastructure investments make the biggest difference in Australia's transition to a circular economy?
