From wickets to wins: teamwork in every form 🏏

This month, our team swapped laptops for scorecards and spent the day at Lord’s, the Home of Cricket. Surrounded by history, tradition, and a healthy dose of friendly rivalry, it was the perfect setting to connect outside the office.

Days like these remind us that teamwork isn’t just about delivery, it’s about building the bonds that help us perform at our best. Whether on the pitch, in the stands, or back in the office, it’s the shared moments that strengthen who we are as a team.

Here’s to more wins, more milestones, and more time spent together.

Our team swapped spreadsheets for speed boosts at a Mario Kart evening, bringing out plenty of friendly rivalry, laughter, and maybe the odd blue shell.

Team socials like this bring a different kind of energy, giving us space to connect, thrive, and enjoy time together outside the day-to-day.

Here’s to more moments that bring us closer as a team, on and off the track and enjoying the ride together!

Hydrogen Group isn’t just rooted in EMEA and the US, we also operate across APAC under Argyll Scott . With teams in Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Thailand. We’re proud to bring our world-class workforce solutions, global interconnected expertise to local opportunities across boarders, helping clients and candidates thrive in an ever-evolving landscape.

Tell us a bit about your journey, what brought you to Argyll Scott, and what drives you in your role as COO for APAC?

I’ve been in the workforce solutions industry for over 26 years now. For the last 8 years, I’ve been with Hydrogen Group & Argyll Scott, and 13 of those have been spent out here in APAC. It’s been a brilliant ride.

What brought me to Argyll Scott? It was the chance to help shape something. The brand had a strong identity and ambition, values that resonated with me and I saw an opportunity to really make an impact. Not just in the markets we work in, but in how we build partnerships with clients and candidates. I’ve always been driven by the idea of building, whether that’s a team, a market, or a long-term client partnership.

In my role as COO, what keeps me going is pretty straightforward. I love solving problems. I get a kick out of understanding what’s really going on in a client’s business and working with them to bring in talent that’s not just capable, but culturally aligned. It’s about helping them grow and grow the right way.

What are some of the most exciting client projects or partnerships you’ve been involved in recently?

There’s a lot of talk about transformation these days and for good reason. Our clients are going through big shifts, whether that’s digital overhauls, changing business models, or entering new markets. What’s exciting is being right there in the thick of it.

We’ve moved well beyond just placing people in roles. We’re sitting down with clients, looking at where they’re going, what’s holding them back, and figuring out how talent can help them get there. It’s a more collaborative, strategic way of working and it’s working. We’re forming deeper partnerships, offering more tailored solutions, and really embedding ourselves in their journey.

It’s not always smooth sailing of course. But that’s part of the challenge and the reward. Helping businesses adapt, grow, and ultimately succeed through their people, that’s the good stuff.

How are hiring trends evolving across APAC, and how is Argyll Scott helping businesses adapt?

There’s no question the hiring landscape is shifting, and fast. Change and Transformation is the words of the day, particularly when it comes to digital and AI. But with that comes a real skills gap. The demand is high, but the supply of talent with the right experience, mindset, and adaptability is tight.

That’s where we come in. At Argyll Scott, we’re not just filling jobs. We’re helping businesses think differently about how they attract, retain, and develop talent. We’re advising on where to find the right skills, how to position themselves in the market, and what they need to do to compete.

It’s not just about hiring anymore. It’s about building the right teams to meet what’s next and doing it in a way that’s sustainable.

Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing to recharge and stay thriving?

I’m a big believer in staying active, both for physical and mental health. I enjoy a round of golf, when I can squeeze it in, play football, and try to get out for a run now and then. It helps me reset.

Family time is non-negotiable for me. Whether it’s a proper holiday or just a weekend at home, being with the family is what really helps me recharge. It puts everything into perspective and keeps me grounded, especially when the pace of work gets full on.

7 million skilled workers missing by 2030, so what does that mean for your projects?

The clean energy sector is racing forward, but there’s a serious snag. By 2030, we’re facing a global shortfall of seven million skilled workers across renewables, nuclear, hydrogen, and power. This isn’t theory, it’s already manifesting in stalled projects, soaring labour costs, and missed revenue targets.

Here’s what’s fueling the gap:

  • Nearly half of renewables professionals received pay increases in 2025, yet talent remains in short supply
  • We need 212,000 new wind technicians by 2028, with 40% coming from outside the current workforce
  • Solar needs 48% more workers by 2033, but growth is only tracking at 22%
  • Meanwhile, 90% of oil & gas professionals have the skills to transition into nuclear, but often go untapped

Hydrogen Group brings a smarter way forward. Our world-class Statement of Work workforce solution project teams deliver the right skills, when and where you need them, without inflating headcount. We help you stay agile, efficient, and ahead of the curve.
