Case Study: hydrogen refuelling at Port of Milford Haven
Apollo supported the Port of Milford Haven in exploring how local renewable sources, such as rooftop solar and tidal power, could enable hydrogen refuelling. Our HyPR study helped shape a practical path to decarbonisation at the UK’s largest energy port.
Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day
This month, we recognised the brilliant women across Apollo and the impact they make every day.
- 24% of our employees are women
- Women hold 22% of our leadership roles
We’re also proud to support wider initiatives that champion women in STEM. Earlier this year, we hosted a live podcast aimed at inspiring the next generation of female engineers.
Here’s to continued progress, greater opportunity and stronger representation.
Lessons learned in cable installation modelling
Cable installation is one of the most complex aspects of floating wind. In our latest article, we explored the key challenges: tight tolerances, deep waters and the importance of aligning analysis with real-world constraints.
Drawing on recent modelling work with DOF and ORE Catapult, we share practical takeaways for both developers and installers.
Apollo at Global Offshore Wind
This month, we attended GOW 2025 in London as guests of OWGP, where we showcased our PALM Quick Connection System (QCS) concept.
Developed for floating wind, PALM QCS enables fast, winch-driven mechanical connection and disconnection of cables and moorings, removing the need for dynamic positioning vessels. The system has already been proven in in-water trials, where it guided wet-mate connectors using conventional tug winches.
We are now preparing for extended trials and looking for partners to help take the concept into commercial deployment.

Kilted, soaked and smiling
On Sunday 1st June, our teams braved the elements and took part in the Aberdeen Kiltwalk, raising money for our new charity partner, MISS – Miscarriage Support.
The weather kept us on our toes, with everything from heavy rain to bright sunshine. But we made it to the finish line and were proud to support a cause that means so much to so many.
Thank you to everyone who donated, cheered us on or walked with us.
Vacancies: Edinburgh
Thanks to several recent contract wins, we’re expanding our Edinburgh office.
We’re on the lookout for talented engineers and designers across the following disciplines:
- E, C & I
- Process
- Mechanical
- Structural
- Study Lead (process bias)
- Piping
- Technical Safety

Supporting future engineers
Apollo engineers Craig Shepherd and Manuel Beltra Soler recently volunteered as judges for the IMechE Scottish Regional Design Challenge at RGU in Aberdeen.
Students from universities across Scotland were tasked with designing, building and testing an autonomous robotic charging device.
Congratulations to Robert Gordon University, who took the top spot and will head to the National Final in London later this year.
Thanks to IMechE Aberdeen Area for organising and well done to all who took part.
Clues, chases and questionable acting
The Apollo team took on a surprise team-building challenge with a twist: a ‘Cops and Robbers’ game through the heart of Aberdeen.
We covered the city centre on foot, cracked clues, and filmed some questionable (but highly entertaining) videos along the way.
It was a brilliant afternoon of laughs, fresh air and proper teamwork.
Thanks to BlueSky Experiences Ltd and our Social Committee for pulling it all together 🚀
Support the community, give back and protect your family
4moThanks again for your support to MISS - Miscarriage Support with taking part and raising awareness in the Kiltwalk!
