Meet Blue Jay and Project Eluna, Amazon’s latest robotics and AI technology for its operations
Amazon just unveiled two groundbreaking workplace innovations designed to revolutionize how employees work across its operations network. Blue Jay, a next-generation robotics system, coordinates multiple robotic arms to pick, stow, and consolidate items in one streamlined workspace—reducing repetitive lifting and reaching by employees while accelerating delivery speeds. Meanwhile, Project Eluna acts like an extra teammate for operations managers, using agentic AI to anticipate bottlenecks and provide data-backed recommendations.
Both systems prioritize employee safety and career growth, with Blue Jay already being tested in South Carolina and Project Eluna launching this holiday season in Tennessee. These innovations build on Amazon’s recent advances like Vulcan and DeepFleet, demonstrating how physical AI can create safer, smarter workplaces.
Amazon’s smart delivery glasses: The newest innovation designed to enhance the delivery experience
Amazon just announced smart delivery glasses designed to revolutionize how drivers navigate their routes and complete deliveries. The AI-powered wearable technology provides hands-free navigation, package scanning, and hazard detection directly in drivers’ field of view, eliminating the need to look down at their smartphones while making deliveries.
Developed with input from hundreds of Delivery Associates, the glasses feature computer vision technology that guides drivers from their vehicles to customers’ doorsteps with turn-by-turn walking navigation. This breakthrough represents Amazon’s latest investment in making deliveries safer and more seamless for the drivers who connect millions of customers with their packages every day.
New Oxford Economics research shows how Amazon fulfillment centers transform local economies
Breaking research from Oxford Economics reveals how Amazon fulfillment centers are economic catalysts for local communities. The newly released independent analysis of 55 U.S. counties where Amazon added over 1,000 jobs found impressive five-year results: Unemployment rates dropped by 0.37 percentage points, new businesses increased 5%, and weekly wages rose 2.6%. More people entered the workforce while fewer required public assistance.
These local successes are part of Amazon’s larger commitment to U.S. economic growth. Amazon has invested $1.5 trillion in U.S communities since 2010, including infrastructure and compensation to employees. This also includes more than $280 billion in over 1,000 small towns and rural areas across the country from 2010 to 2023.
Beyond facilities, Amazon’s investments include workforce development programs like Career Choice, education initiatives reaching over 12,000 students, and disaster relief efforts. The Oxford Economics study confirms these investments create lasting positive impacts that strengthen communities and drive sustainable economic development.
