Applegreen To Open Two New Taco Bell Outlets In Ireland

Applegreen has announced plans to open two new Taco Bell outlets – in Dublin and in Cork – following the successful launch of the brand at Applegreen Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath, earlier this year.

The forecourt retailer will open the American fast-food chain at Lusk Northbound, on the M1 in Dublin, and in Ballincollig, in Cork, before the end of this year, creating 60 new jobs.

Applegreen is embarking on a major refurbishment of both locations and will also add new M&S Food shop-in-shop outlets and new Crafted Kitchen & Deli operations at each site.

A new Braeburn Cafe will also be opening at the site in Lusk.

Applegreen opened Ireland’s first Taco Bell in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath, in mid-September and has plans to add further outlets across its portfolio, as part of a partnership with the US-based company.

Marks & Spencer Sees Profits Fall After Cyberattack, But Remains Optimistic

Marks & Spencer’s results for the first half showed that profits fell by 55.4%, in the wake of a cyberattack in April, though it remained focused on recovery.

The retailer noted that it will have fully recovered from April’s cyberattack by March of next year, forecasting second-half profit ‘at least’ in line with last year’s.

CEO Stuart Machin said that the first half of the year was “an extraordinary moment in time for M&S”, but emphasised that “change […] is not a moment.”

Machin said, “Change is constant, and that is why we are resolute in our ambition to reshape M&S for growth.”

April’s cyberattack meant that the retailer had to suspend online clothing orders, as well as click-and-collect services.

The retailer has been making strides in its recovery and was looking ahead to a busy Christmas, but Machin noted that the wider retail sector is currently facing cost increases.

Consumer goods group Unilever said on Tuesday it expects to complete the spin-off of its Magnum Ice Cream unit, after a delay because of the US government shutdown, by 6 December.

The delay underscores the disruptions caused by the three-week US federal government shutdown, with the US Securities and Exchange Commission unable to declare the registration statement effective.

This step is required for shares of The Magnum Ice Cream Company to list and trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
