Ever wondered how Match-3 games like Candy Crush actually work? They’ve been keeping us entertained for over 20 years - but behind all those colorful tiles and satisfying combos lies some surprisingly elegant logic. In our latest article, we break down the technical magic behind Match-3 games, exploring how Unity and C# power their: ✅ Grid-based logic systems ✅ Match detection and cascading combos ✅ Special tiles and power-ups ✅ Controlled randomness (so the board never breaks!) ✅ And the clever Model-View structure that keeps everything smooth Whether you’re a game developer, designer, or just curious about how your favorite games come to life, this deep dive shows how much brilliance hides behind the simplicity of swapping gems. Whenever you see a showcase of features from Unreal, you may think this is advertised to developers to get more of them to use Unreal. And sure, there is a technical director here and there who makes that call. But it's also advertised to players. To associate high quality features to Unreal. Remember when Unity only showed its logo on the startup of free and personal projects? This eventually caused Unity to be associated with low quality games. The high quality games also used Unity, but the logo was not visible for them. So how do you associate your logo with high quality games? You keep showing really cool features, with your logo next to them. Which Epic is very good at!

Game Dev Tip: Start small. Focus on creating one core gameplay loop that feels fun and responsive before adding extra levels or mechanics. Polish early. Expand later. That’s how great games take shape. #GameDesign #GameDev #IndieDev

It’s been a while, so I just wanted to share some updates! A lot has changed, but I’ll just highlight the most important ones. Last July, I attended a game dev expo where a lot of players got to try Iron Dawn. Their feedback really helped me improve the game. 1. Simplified Deployment : Before, you had to go through around 13 steps just to start a mission. Now, you can deploy and start playing right from the menu just one step! 2. Reworked In-Game UI : I simplified the interface by adding a cleaner radar, moving the ammo count near the crosshair, and placing your unit status right below your mech. 3. Dedicated Enemy Units per Area : Instead of fighting mechs with random parts, each area now features fixed units/mechs. This helps players recognize the difficulty and identity of the enemies they’re facing. Wishlist Iron Dawn : https://lnkd.in/gdGbDsd3 #Unity #GameDev #Steam

I’ve created a simple Rocket League-style ping pong game using MonoGame, entirely built in C#. 🎮 Gameplay Highlights: Fast-paced, arcade-style ping pong Goal effects like screen shake and particle splashes inspired by Rocket League Physics-based mechanics – all movements, bounces, and collisions are calculated mathematically in C# Smooth, responsive controls This project demonstrates how MonoGame and C# can be used to create interactive, math-driven games with visual flair, even for small-scale prototypes. #MonoGame #GameDevelopment #IndieGame #GameDev #PhysicsBased #CSharp #InteractiveGames #RocketLeagueInspired
