Historically, ROV deployment relied solely on weather forecasting. While forecasting is great for planning, it has limitations when it comes to real-time operational decisions in the offshore industry as it does not represent the exact conditions of a precise location at a specific time. To close this gap, Miros developed WaveSystem, a radar-based sea state monitoring solution that delivers continuous, real-time insight into wave height, period and direction. By installing Miros WaveSystem onboard a vessel and placing one Miros RangeFinder sensor on each bridge wing, vessel operators can monitor the wave direction and wave activity on both port and starboard side of the vessel. Our team is in Florida this week performing preliminary testing and observations of the Western Flyer’s legacy systems before the vessel heads to the shipyard for scheduled maintenance and upgrades. Infinity EMA will be upgrading the vessel’s Dynamic Positioning (DP) system, Alarm and Monitoring System, and Fire Detection System. These upgrades will enhance reliability, safety, and operational awareness for future missions.
