There’s a gap between the women doing incredible work and the women being 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻 for it. And it’s not about talent → 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. So many brilliant women are quietly changing lives, but because they’re not sharing their stories, the world doesn’t know their names. The media can’t feature what it can’t see. I’ve seen women in my community with world-changing missions stay hidden because they think visibility is self-promotion. But it’s not. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽. It’s how your message reaches the people who need it most. Bridging that gap starts with one simple shift: stop waiting to be discovered and start showing up as the expert you already are. What’s one way you can close your own visibility gap this week?

At #WRISE2025, our founder Glenna Wiseman, joined industry leaders on the “From Doing to Leading – Becoming an Effective Manager” panel, exploring what it really takes to move from individual contributor to effective, purpose-led leader. Glenna introduced the API model (Authority, Presence, and Impact) a Dr. Peter Hawkins’ framework with a vital addition: Grounding in Purpose. Because knowing your internal GPS is what transforms authority into authenticity and presence into influence. As women across clean energy take on bigger leadership roles, this conversation matters more than ever. Leadership isn’t just about skills—it’s about alignment. “Wherever you go, you take you with you.” Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE) #WomenWhoLead #PurposeActivation #CleanEnergyLeadership #TeamDevelopment #PermissiontoBloom

Last week, Priscilla Almodovar stepped down as CEO of Fannie Mae and Toni Townes-Whitley departed as CEO of SAIC. Two trailblazing women who held the highest office in Fortune 500 companies and their exits are a reminder that building lasting change takes more than celebrating milestones. Here's what I know from working with senior leaders and executive teams: we have an extraordinary opportunity right now to shift from moments of representation to movements of sustainable leadership. The leaders I most admire aren't just talking about diversity, they're architecting it into how their organizations grow, develop, and elevate talent. Here's what that looks like in practice: Think legacy, not just leadership. The most forward-thinking teams are building deep benches of women, including women of color, who are ready not just for today's opportunities, but for the ones we'll create tomorrow. Make the invisible visible. When we shine a light on the unspoken patterns that shape who gets sponsored, stretched, and championed, we open up new pathways for talent that might otherwise go unseen. Create the conditions where women don't just arrive, they stay and thrive. The best cultures aren't just welcoming at the door, they're energizing throughout the journey, with real power, authentic voice, and true belonging. Progress isn't guaranteed, but it's absolutely possible when we're intentional about it. The future of leadership isn't just about more women at the top, it's about building organizations where they can lead, flourish, and stay.

In the boardroom, the days of checking a “diversity” box are over. In a world of disruption, diversity isn’t about compliance - it’s a strategic edge, even on boards. But here’s the catch… Too many capable women still face barriers to the boardroom. And that’s not just a representation issue - It’s a performance one. Last month, Amrop's Cecilia Callmer & Magda Clipaciuc partnered with European Women on Boards (EWOB) to ask the question: How can boards amplify their strategic impact through inclusion, behavior, and purposeful leadership? Here’s what emerged: https://lnkd.in/dPaAD_QB

🌟WIB-RTP at Women Lead NC 🌟 Last week, four of our WIB-RTP leaders - Emilie Smith, PhD, PMP, Raquel C. Martínez Chacín, Ph.D., Shannon Speer, PhD, MBA, and Katie Luterek - represented Women In Bio - RTP at Women Lead NC, North Carolina’s premier leadership and personal development conference, organized by NC Chamber. Together, we’ve captured some of the most meaningful takeaways and moments from their experience. The day reminded us and showed what it means to lead with confidence, authenticity, and purpose. Key takeaways that resonated: - Leadership begins with self-awareness. As Secretary Jocelyn Mitnaul Mallette shared, before engaging in tough conversations, ask: ➤ How often do I interact with this person? ➤ Do they have the capacity to change? ➤ Do I have the capacity to engage today? - Kindness and authority can coexist. True leadership balances empathy with accountability. - Mentorship is reciprocal. Great leaders allow themselves to be mentored even as they mentor others. - AI can amplify our impact - when used with intention and creativity. Diversity, equity, and inclusion remain at the heart of sustainable leadership, beautifully underscored by Misty Copeland’s inspiring story of resilience and advocacy for broader access to the arts. ✨ The spirit of Women Lead NC echoed through every session: Run toward challenges, bring others with you, and if there’s no seat at the table - bring your own folding chair. We’re grateful to our members for representing WIB-RTP and bringing back renewed energy to continue empowering, mentoring, and amplifying the voices of women across the life sciences community. 💜 #WomenInBio #WIBRTP #WomenLeadNC #Leadership #Mentorship #Inclusion #WomenSupportingWomen #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #Raleigh #NCChamber
