Developing talent is one of the pillars that drives the work I want to deliver in LACan. In this video, our Communications & Advocacy Head in Mexico, Marcela Rodríguez Torres, captures what we stand for: accelerating growth through mentorship and empowering more women to lead with purpose.   But what truly moves me is the next voice we hear: her daughter, Sara. She shares how her mother inspired her to dream big and pursue her goals without fear (or, as Sara puts it, “nerviocionada”, a mix of nerves and excitement). Now, Sara is overcoming her challenges and living in Canada to pursue her dreams, far from her family, but certain that she has the support she needs to get through it.   It’s a powerful reminder that what truly makes us unique is our people. Inside and outside Novartis, our team are leaving a mark. There’s still a long way to go.   McKinsey’s 2024 Women in the Workplace report shows a telling truth about our industry: women hold the majority of entry-level roles in pharma and medical products, yet representation steadily declines up the ladder, culminating in just 28% at the C-suite. That disconnect is one I see and feel every day in life sciences. Women are delivering results that shape healthcare’s future—leading through uncertainty, navigating IPO droughts, raising critical capital, and building the cultures that keep organizations strong. Yet too often, those contributions go unseen or under-acknowledged.
