The foundation of Verdant Carbon Zero was built from a tremendous wealth of team experience, which spanned across energy verticals and technology led sectors. What seems like many moons ago, a coming together of eco-focused minds with a deep craving to show the world how energy and the relationship with emissions can be a positive one. 📣Presenting our newest member of the CO2NSTRUCT team 📣 Stefan Horn is a recent addition to the CO2NSTRUCT project and works as a postdoctoral researcher at DTU Sustain. Vancouver’s Arca Climate signs major carbon removal deal with Microsoft 🌎 Big news for Canada’s clean technology ecosystem — Arca has signed a 10-year offtake agreement with Microsoft to deliver nearly 300,000 tonnes of durable CO₂ removal. The agreement marks a major milestone for Arca’s industrial mineralization technology — which captures and permanently stores atmospheric CO₂ by repurposing mine waste into stable carbonate minerals. In the context of the #BLADE2CIRC project, we’d like to share a figure that highlights the scale of the challenge… and the opportunity: 🔸 By 2030, around 14,000 wind turbines are expected to be decommissioned across Europe, generating between 40,000 and 60,000 tonnes of blade waste. Germany and Spain will account for a significant share of this. 🔸 At the same time, promising initiatives are already showing how we can close the loop: in Aldeavieja (Ávila, Spain), structural concrete that integrates recycled fibers from decommissioned blades has been used in the foundations of a wind farm — reducing waste, emissions, and the need for virgin raw materials. At BLADE2CIRC we share the same vision: driving innovation, collaboration and scalable solutions to turn this growing waste stream into valuable resources. 💡 What’s your view? 💡 Today is World Energy Day… and at Nexira, it resonates deeply with us. On our sites, energy is not just measured in numbers or kilowatt-hours. It’s visible in every drop of recycled water, in every system optimized for efficiency, in every action designed to reduce our impact. 🌱 In 2025, we launched a major project: replacing our open spray tower with an adiabatic tower, combined with a heat recovery system. Starting in 2026, this will save 9,000 m³ of water and 3 GWh of energy per year. These initiatives are part of our overall energy policy: reducing energy consumption by 5% by 2027 and water consumption by 10% by 2026. Every cubic meter saved, every kilowatt-hour preserved is a win for the planet and for the resources we strive to protect every day. Because protecting what sustains us is also protecting the future. 🌿
