Exciting news on the official naming of Amazon Leo!
The evolution from Project Kuiper to Amazon Leo marks a significant milestone in connecting the unconnected. With 150+ satellites already deployed and achieving speeds exceeding 1 Gbps, this isn't just about technology—it's about impact.
From an EMEA perspective, the potential is transformative. We have vast rural and underserved regions across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa where traditional connectivity infrastructure remains challenging or cost-prohibitive. Amazon Leo represents a game-changing opportunity for our partners to:
🌍 Extend reliable, high-speed connectivity to remote communities and enterprises
🤝 Enable digital transformation for organizations previously limited by infrastructure gaps
🚀 Unlock new use cases in agriculture, logistics, education, and emergency services across diverse geographies
For our EMEA partner ecosystem, this opens exciting collaboration opportunities. Whether you're working in telecommunications, enterprise solutions, government services, or IoT applications, Amazon Leo's low Earth orbit constellation can be the connectivity backbone that makes your innovations possible.
The millions of households and the enterprises, organizations, and governments that need this solution - many of them are right here in our region.
Looking forward to working with our partners to bring Amazon Leo's capabilities to EMEA and make meaningful connectivity a reality for all.
Congratulations to the entire team on this achievement. The best is yet to come!

Pretty much every Amazon project starts with a code name. Echo was “Doppler,” our first Kindle was “Fiona,” and our EC2 network device project was “Blackfoot,” after the penguins our AWS team saw while doing the work in Cape Town.
For our satellite network, it was “Project Kuiper,” and today, we’re introducing the permanent name: Amazon Leo—for the low Earth orbit (or LEO) constellation that powers the whole thing.
Team’s made lots of progress (150+ satellites up, >1 Gbps speeds, customers signing on) and am excited for the difference Leo will make for the ~500 million households, and millions of enterprises, orgs, and governments who need it. https://lnkd.in/g6QgJwFQ
