Google goes to space🚀. Amazon dives underwater🤽♂️. The race for the future of computing is no longer just about speed or scale. It is about geography. Google’s Project #Suncatcher plans to launch AI data centers into orbit. Operating in a dawn-to-dusk sun-synchronous low Earth orbit, these satellites would receive almost continuous sunlight to power AI workloads. The challenge is steep: solar panels must be up to eight times more efficient, and Google’s TPUs need to run reliably for at least five years. Prototype launches are planned for 2027. At the same time, Amazon #Fastnet Project is moving in the opposite direction, deep below the surface. It is laying a fiber-optic cable across the Atlantic, capable of moving 320 terabits per second between the United States and Europe. Amazon is adding robust armoring and advanced burial methods to protect the cable from cuts and damage, with completion planned for 2028. One company reaches for the sun. The other fortifies the sea floor. Together, they show that the future of cloud computing may live everywhere but Earth’s surface. #Google #Amazon #Cloud #AI #Infrastructure #Innovation #TechTrends #SpaceTech #SubseaCables
