One of the highlights of #MootGlobal25 was the opportunity to present "Building confidence, not just compliance" led by Gavin Henrick, Co-Founder of Brickfield Education Labs. It was wonderful to connect in person with so many educators, designers, and technologists who are passionate about accessibility and inclusive learning. The conversations and feedback reminded us how strong the community is and how much we can achieve together. During the session, Gavin introduced the 18 Point Accessibility Skills Framework, a practical model that helps turn accessibility into everyday habits. The framework is built around six themes: - Media. - Table. - Links. - Text. - Layout. Each theme includes simple, actionable steps that make content clearer, more engaging, and easier to use for everyone. You can explore the full framework, see examples, and download our accessibility resources in our latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/emgdXuMH #Accessibility #EdTech #Moodle

When you’re up against deadlines, it can be hard to hold onto empathy. But it’s the part of the process that most affects how people actually experience what we make. Many digital learning resources technically meet accessibility standards. Alt text is there, headings are structured, colours pass contrast checks. Yet the experience itself often isn’t accessible in practice. Research from the Nielsen Norman Group and gov.uk shows that basic compliance doesn’t guarantee usability. One gov.uk review found that most eLearning screens that passed WCAG still caused problems for screen-reader users because interactions weren’t described in a clear, logical order. The easiest way to check whether your content works is to imagine someone you care about using it. If your grandmother or a friend with limited sight would struggle, it isn’t really accessible, no matter how many boxes it ticks. That’s an editorial issue as much as a technical one. When accessibility is treated as part of the writing and design craft, not just an afterthought, the result is clearer, more inclusive and more engaging for everyone.
