Edit licenses and permissions for existing users in bulk via CSV in Recruiter

Last updated: 3 weeks ago

As a Product Settings and Account Center Admin, you can use the CSV file upload feature to assign different licenses and permissions to existing users in bulk on your LinkedIn Recruiter contract via LinkedIn Admin Center.

To edit licenses and permissions in bulk via CSV, you must download a CSV file list of existing users from LinkedIn Admin Center, update the file, and upload it to LinkedIn Admin Center.

Here’s a summary of the steps to edit licenses and permissions for existing users:

  • Download the CSV file for editing.
  • Make the necessary updates in the CSV file and save it to your device.
  • Upload the updated CSV file to process the changes.

To edit licenses and permissions for existing users:

  1. Move your cursor over your profile picture at the top of your Recruiter homepage and select Manage users in Admin Center from the dropdown.

  2. Select Manage users via CSV in the Users section.

  3. Select Download all users via CSV from the dropdown. Alternatively, if you want a filtered list, select Download filtered users via CSV from the dropdown.

    • To download specific users, you can filter by licenses, permissions, and attributes by clicking the box and selecting from the dropdown.
  4. In User attributes, begin typing the attribute you’d like to include in your CSV download and select the option(s) from the dropdown.

    • The Invited email address attribute is auto-selected because it’s required.

    Important to know

If you need to see the last time a user accessed the product via Admin Center CSV download, select Last access date. The last access date will be backfilled up to October 1, 2024. If a user has taken an action prior to this date, that information will not be visible and the cell will be blank. The data is refreshed every four hours.

  5. In Licenses, begin typing the license types to include in your CSV download and select the option(s) from the dropdown.

  6. In Permissions, begin typing the permission types to include in your CSV download and select the option(s) from the dropdown.

  7. Click Download CSV.

  8. Open the file using text editing software on your device.

  9. Enter active or inactive under each license and permissions column. The value entered in the columns will determine the action taken for each user.

  10. Save the file as a CSV file on your device.

  11. Return to the Users tab in LinkedIn Admin Center.

  12. Click Manage users via CSV and select Upload CSV file from the dropdown.

  13. Click Upload CSV.

  14. Select your CSV file to upload. The upload will begin immediately.

A confirmation message will appear if your upload was successful.

We'll send an invitation email to prompt users to activate their license. The link in the activation email is available for 7 days.

Important to know

If you are trying to perform bulk actions on more than 2,000 users, to avoid long upload times, use one of the following methods: CSV uploads or Groups (segment users into separate sections and take bulk actions on them).
