Chargeability for video views campaigns and ad sets

Last updated: 4 days ago

Video views are calculated as the number of views with two or more continuous seconds of playback while the video is at least 50 percent on screen. The table provides the optimization goal, bidding strategy, and charged by information for a video views objective.

Objective Optimization goal Bidding strategy Charged by
Video views Video views Maximum delivery (Automated) Impressions
Cost cap Impressions
Manual bidding Video views
Impressions Manual bidding Impressions
Cost cap Impressions

When you select video views as your objective, there are no chargeable clicks. The clicks metric reported in Campaign Manager shows all clicks on the ad, which indicates engagement, not charges.

Here's a tip

When you select the video ad format for ad sets objectives other than video views, chargeable clicks might include clicks anywhere on the media (headline, CTA, or video). As a result, your creative’s destination URL opens and anchors the video to the top of the page, depending on the bid type selected for the campaign or ad set.
