Troubleshoot Insight Tag conversions

If your Insight Tag conversions aren’t showing as Active in Campaign Manager, try these troubleshooting tips.

Here's a tip

To check your conversion status, go to the Conversion Tracking page in Campaign Manager. Select the Data source dropdown menu, and filter by the type of conversion tracking method you chose: Website actions, site-wide tag, event-specific tag, or image pixel. Confirm that your Insight Tag is active 

Your Insight Tag data source must be active before your conversion can be active. To check if your Insight Tag is active:

  1. Go to your ad account in Campaign Manager.

  2. Click Data on the left menu, then click Signals manager.

  3. In the Sources section, review the Insight Tag card. It must show Active to be ready to use.

If your Insight Tag shows No recent activity or Unverified, we recommend that you visit the page where you've implemented the tag. Keep in mind, after someone visits your page, it may take up to 24 hours to see the status switch to Active.

If your tag is still not validating after 24 hours, review your Insight Tag setup. The following are some points to confirm:

  • The JavaScript code is implemented correctly. 
  • The Partner ID (PID) matches your account. 
  • Specific IP ranges and domains aren’t blocked.

Check your conversion setup 

If you’ve confirmed that your Insight Tag is active, we recommend you check that your conversion was set up correctly. To review and edit your conversion:

  1. Go to your ad account in Campaign Manager.

  2. Click Measurement on the left menu, then click Conversion tracking.

  3. Find your conversion on the Conversion Tracking page. You can filter by name, status, data source, or category to find your conversion.

  4. Next to your conversion name, click the  More icon and select Edit.

  5. Review the details of your conversion. Select Edit in the upper-right corner of the Settings, Source, or Campaign section to see detailed information.

Troubleshoot by conversion tracking method

If you confirm that your conversion setup is correct and it’s still showing Unverified, No recent activity, or Inactive, review these common issues:

Conversion tracking method Issue Recommendation
Manual conversions setup  The Insight Tag on your account doesn't match the tag implemented on your webpage.  Check that your JavaScript code for your Insight Tag matches the tag on your webpage. Learn how to find your Insight Tag code
Page-load conversions  The URL of the webpage doesn’t match the URL parameters set for the conversion action.  Review your page-load conversion setup to confirm that your URL parameters are correct. Learn how to set up URL parameters for page load conversions
Image pixel conversions  The image pixel might have been installed to fire when the conversion action is taken on your website, instead of when the page loads.  Review your image pixel code to ensure it was installed correctly on your webpage. You can access your image pixel code on the Sources page when creating or editing your conversion. 
Tag management system There was an issue adding the Insight Tag to your tag management system.  Check that the Insight Tag has been implemented according to your tag manager’s best practices. Learn more about our supported tag management systems

Important to know

Consistent with our terms, the Insight Tag should not be installed on web pages that collect or contain Sensitive Data. This can include pages offering specific health-related or financial services or products to consumers.  

 

For example, depending on the content of the pages, the Insight Tag may be included on a generic homepage for a pharmacy or a bank, or business-to-business pages directed only to organizations and financial or healthcare professionals, but should not be included on consumer pages for certain types of medications or pages where users manage their financial accounts and transactions or medical appointments, since it could lead to the inadvertent collection and sharing of sensitive information regarding the health or finances of individuals who visited that page.
