Create text ads in Campaign Manager

Text ads are simple, easy-to-create ads that appear on the right rail of a variety of LinkedIn desktop pages. Each ad contains a headline, brief text, and small image. They appear on the right side of the LinkedIn desktop feed.

Step 1: Make sure you have the correct permissions

You must have creative manager access or higher on your ad account to create a text ad.

Step 2: Create an ad set  

Before you can create your ads, you must first create an ad set. Your ad set includes settings that help determine who your ads are shown to, where your ads are shown, and how much your ads can spend.

Step 3: Create a new text ad 

To create a text ad: 

  1. On the Ads in this ad set page in Campaign Manager, click the Create new ad(s) button.

  2. Click the Choose file button to upload an image for your text ad.

  3. Enter an optional Ad name.

  4. Enter an Ad headline.  

  5. Enter an Ad description.

  6. Select a Destination URL. You can choose between: 

    • Your website - Enter a URL for a page on your website. 
    • Your Company Page on LinkedIn - Use the dropdown menu to select a page. 
  7. Click the Save ad button.

After creating an ad, you can:  

  • Create more ads.  
  • Duplicate, preview and edit, or manage tracking by clicking the  More icon to the right of the ad.   
  • Choose your ad rotation options by clicking the  Gear icon to the right of Ads in this ad set

Here's a tip

After you’ve added a text ad to an ad set, it can’t be deleted. If you don’t want that ad attached to your ad set, you can delete the draft ad set and create a new one.

When you’re ready, you can launch your new ad set or save changes to an existing ad set. Your ads will be reviewed and, if approved, are displayed based on the settings of your ad set.
