Create spotlight ads in Campaign Manager

Last updated: 4 days ago

LinkedIn spotlight ads allow you to drive traffic to your website or landing page. Spotlight ads can feature your product, service, event, and more.

Spotlight ads are a type of dynamic ad, which means they’re personalized for each member. Each member only sees their personalized information, not other members. Members can also opt out of allowing their profile information to be used to personalize ads.

Who can use this feature?

You must have super admin, content admin, or Sponsored Content poster access on your ad account's Page and creative manager access or higher on your ad account to create a spotlight ad.

Before creating a spotlight ad, create a new campaign and select brand awareness, website visits, or job applicants as the objective. You can also create new ads for an existing spotlight ad campaign by editing your ads

To create a spotlight ad:

  1. Go to the Ads in this ad set page in Campaign Manager.

    • New ad set - If you're creating a new ad set, you'll go to the Ads in this ad set page after selecting the settings for your ad set.
    • Existing ad set - To add another ad to an existing ad set, you can edit the ad set by going to the Ads in this ad set page.
  2. Click Create new ad

  3. Optional: Select the checkbox next to Ad background image to add an image to your ad.

    • If you add a background image, you can’t add an ad description, and the member’s profile won’t appear in the ad.
  4. Enter an optional Ad name.

  5. Enter an Ad headline

  6. Confirm or change the company name and ad image.

    • Change the company name by typing in the field available.
    • Change the ad image by clicking the Cancel icon and then clicking the Upload button.
  7. If you didn’t upload a background image, you can:

    • Select the checkbox next to Use profile image to select if a member’s profile image appears on the ad.
    • Add an optional Ad description by selecting the checkbox and updating the field provided.
  8. Enter a Call to action.

  9. Enter a Destination URL

  10. Click the Create button.

After creating an ad, you can:

  • Create more ads.
  • Duplicate, preview and edit, or manage tracking by clicking the More icon to the right of the ad.
  • Choose your ad rotation options by clicking the Gear icon to the right of Ads in this ad set

Here's a tip

After you’ve added an ad to an ad set, it can’t be deleted. If you don’t want that ad attached to your ad set, you can delete the draft ad set and create a new one.

When you’re ready, you can launch your new ad set or save changes to an existing ad set. Your ads will be reviewed and, if approved, are displayed based on the settings of your ad set.
