Recommendations in Campaign Manager are actionable insights generated to help optimize your advertising campaigns. These suggestions are based on campaign performance data, designed to enhance your return on investment (ROI) and streamline campaign management.
Types of recommendations
Recommendations can include suggestions to make changes to your ad sets or ads, such as the following:
- Audience
- Bidding
- Budget and schedule
- Ads and assets
- Ad format
- Placement
- Conversion tracking
- Trending content
We work very closely with each product team that has a recommendation to ensure consistency, non-duplication, and adherence to a comprehensive set of product principles.
Where to find recommendations
You can view recommendations from several locations in Campaign Manager:
- Overview page - Click the
Lightbulb icon in the top-right corner of each section to view up to three related recommendations. - Recommendations page - View all account-level and ad set-level recommendations currently available. Use filters to narrow down the recommendations by level, group or type, objective, ad set status, or specific ad sets. Here, you also have the option to apply all recommendations to save time when optimizing your ad sets.
- Measurement Insights page - Click the
Lightbulb icon when available, to view related recommendations. - Ad Set Summary page - View recommendations to help improve underperforming ad sets.
- Notifications - Turn on notifications to receive recommendation alerts when you have a new recommendation to help optimize your ad sets.
How recommendations are generated
Recommendations in Campaign Manager are generated at both the account-level and ad set-level using a combination of historical data, industry trends, and performance metrics. Ad set recommendations contain the suggested action as well as the estimated results if the action is applied or not applied.
Important to know
We've carefully selected triggers for each recommendation to ensure we expect the recommendation to have a significant impact on advertiser ROI. In addition, we continuously monitor forecasting accuracy and invest in improving forecasting accuracy over time.
When you choose to apply a recommendation, it'll move to the Applied tab. Once your ad set has started to run, you’ll see the delivered impact overall, which represents the actual performance of your ad set.
Test your recommendations
For some recommendations on your Recommendations page, you’ll have the option to implement an A/B test to see if the recommendation provides the best outcome for your objective. When you implement an A/B test, you can compare LinkedIn’s suggested changes against your current setup with a smaller audience before deciding to implement the recommendation.
If A/B Testing is available for your recommendation, you’ll see a Run a Test button on the recommendation on your Recommendations page in Campaign Manager.
- If you decide to implement the test - You’ll be taken to the Test page in Campaign Manager to set up your test. After the test is over, you can review the results and decide to apply or dismiss the recommendation. Learn more about A/B Testing.
- If you decide not to implement the test - You can choose to apply or dismiss the recommendation without testing.
