On Thursday, August 28, we proudly celebrated the grand opening of our new U.S. assembly facility and headquarters in Fontana, California. This event marked more than the launch of a new site, it was a statement of confidence in the future of zero-emission commercial transportation. We were honored to host customers, partners, media, and community leaders as we unveiled our 210,000-square-foot facility and showcased the ZM8, our next-generation electric work truck built for performance, reliability, and lower total cost of ownership. ⚡🚛 "Fleet EVs are about TCO, not the environment" That’s how FleetOwner summed up their visit to ZM Trucks' new U.S. assembly facility in Fontana, California. As FleetOwner Editor-in-Chief Josh Fisher noted, ZM Trucks is “a new-to-the-U.S. OEM prioritizing total cost of ownership and ROI for fleets—not environmental benefits—as EV incentives decline.” Walking the factory floor, CEO Jeroen Joost de Vries underscored this point: “Customers are starting to understand that there is an ROI if you go electric. It has nothing to do with the environment. Nobody in our industry is a tree-hugging extremist … it doesn’t count for the customers we sell to.” In a time of regulatory rollbacks and fading incentives, ZM Trucks is holding firm. “You can’t make decisions like this on a (presidential) administration timeline,” de Vries explained. “On the B2B side, on the commercial side, the acceleration is still going up.” The new 210,000-square-foot facility has already produced the ZM8, designed to prove that cost, performance, and reliability will drive adoption.
