There are many paths to a fulfilling career in the forest products industry, and at Weyerhaeuser we're always eager to introduce the next generation to the full range of opportunities available across our company. Through our workforce development partnership with Be Pro Be Proud, we were excited to see Mason Sillavan, a 20-year-old maintenance millwright at our lumber mill in Dierks, Arkansas, featured on the cover of Arkansas Next Pros magazine as one of 13 "young trailblazers reshaping the Arkansas workforce." Learn more about Mason's educational and professional journey, and why he decided to pursue a career at Weyerhaeuser. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay https://lnkd.in/eC7Y3SBC

Over the past year, we’ve celebrated our 125th anniversary with events across our operating communities in the United States and Canada. Our last stop was scenic northwest Montana, where we welcomed the community into our Kalispell lumber and plywood mills and the Columbia Falls MDF plant for exclusive behind-the-scenes tours. Visitors got an up-close look at how we turn wood fiber from sustainably managed forests into a wide range of products that are essential to everyday life. We also highlighted some of the advanced technology used in our operations and shared more about our commitment to workplace safety. Check out the video to see what makes the Flathead Valley such a special place to live, work and do business. #WY125 #TheWeyerhaeuserWay

Every year, our employees commit thousands of hours to supporting organizations and causes they care about in their communities. Earlier this fall, team members from across our southwest Washington operations came together to help Family Promise, Inc of Cowlitz County, an organization dedicated to assisting families with children experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Of several projects our team supported, the highlight was helping a former Family Promise resident paint and clean up the yard of the home she had recently purchased. Thanks to Family Promise for the opportunity and to our employees who participated. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay

Weyerhaeuser is proud to employ more than 600 veterans across our company. From our working forests and mills to our corporate offices, veterans fill important roles that are critical to our success — and our Veterans of Weyerhaeuser (VOW) employee resource group provides a supportive community that helps build connections and awareness for veterans in our workplace. Today, we join others in acknowledging our gratitude to all military veterans and their legacy of service. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay #VeteransDay www.wy.com/careers

Continuing our 125th anniversary look back at Weyerhaeuser's history, today we're highlighting photos from 1991 to 2000. The decade began with an economic recession but grew into an era of transformation and progress as we divested underperforming assets and noncore businesses and leaned into areas of strength and opportunity. We evolved our High Yield Forestry practices to include new goals for protecting wildlife and soil and water quality, and we began hosting town halls in communities across the Pacific Northwest to engage with people directly about threatened species and other environmental concerns. We also introduced new frameworks for assessing workplace risks and welcomed a more representative board of directors and senior management team. By the end of the decade, we were growing again. Our 1999 acquisition of MacMillan Bloedel, a Canadian company with more than 9,500 employees and sales of $2.9 billion (U.S.), expanded our North American footprint and led a year later to the acquisition of Trus Joist International, adding significantly to our engineered wood products portfolio. Enjoy select photos from the era courtesy of the Forest History Society. #WY125 #TheWeyerhaeuserWay

The second full weekend in October means one thing in Zwolle, Louisiana: tamales, and lots of them. For nearly 50 years, the annual Tamale Fiesta celebrating the region's Native American and Spanish cultural heritage has brought the community together around food, entertainment, crafts, music and more. It's one of the highlights of the year for employees at our Zwolle veneer plant and an opportunity many take to join family, neighbors and friends in the planning and fun. This year's event was extra special as it came during our 125th anniversary celebrations. Check out the video for the sights and sounds that make Zwolle's Tamale Fiesta a can't-miss event every fall. #WY125 #TheWeyerhaeuserWay

Members of our Timberlands team in Ruston, Louisiana, recently enjoyed hosting an experiential outdoor learning session for forestry students from Louisiana Tech University. We discussed silviculture best practices for well-drained sandy soils and the challenges posed by leaf-cutting ants in these environments; shared Weyerhaeuser's commitment to sustainable forest management and environmental responsibility; and highlighted the importance of soil to forest health. Thanks to all who made it a fun, memorable and informative day! #TheWeyerhaeuserWay

A highlight of Montana Forest Products Week, the annual Flathead Timber Tour provides community members with an exclusive look into Montana’s working forests and the processes that go into making the wood products we use every day. Along with the forest tour, our Columbia Falls MDF facility and Kalispell lumber and plywood mills also hosted community tours this week. “Tours provide an opportunity to showcase how we operate, introduce careers in forestry and highlight the contributions of forest products to Montana’s economy,” says Zack Miller, Montana raw materials manager. “They’re a great chance to hear directly from foresters and mill team members about the standards we follow and the care and pride that goes into creating products we all depend on.” https://lnkd.in/ef_6skJ9
