Key is committed to: meeting the individual treatment needs of youth and families by emphasizing a strength-based approach delivering quality care and services to youth and families offering a culturally sensitive system of care providing care in the least restrictive environment possible promoting the safety of the communities in which our youth and families reside advocating for public policy which assists and protects children and families at risk developing flexible and innovative treatment models ensuring a skilled and caring staff through quality supervision and training creating life-long supporters and advocates of the human services field within our past, present and future staff through their work experience at Key

  • Key staff members had the privilege of collaborating with the Neurofeedback Advocacy Project (NAP) - a non-profit with the sole mission of bringing life-changing technology and treatment to those who need it most.    Neurofeedback is a form of brain training which improves functioning. Infra-Low Frequency Neurofeedback is a highly effective approach to treating clients with a history of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and those who’ve experienced trauma.   Colette Melancon, CEO & Owner of Therapeutic Partners, LLC and leader of the initiative expressed her enthusiasm about our involvement with the Neurofeedback Advocacy Project stating,    “We are extremely excited to work with The Key Program, and we believe this is the start of something much bigger…” 🧠   Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/e2yxUBCi

  • Thank you ALL for the outpouring of support you showed our Director Scott Brum in advance of his marathon run in the Big Apple.    Scott’s day began like any other. The sun was shining; the birds were chirping. But today, he would run 26.2 miles across the city of New York.    Scott made his way onto the crowded subway at promptly 6:00am. Next, he boarded the Staten Island Ferry, and finally rode the city bus to the New York Road Runners Runcenter. Here, he would embark on an unforgettable trek through the historic five boroughs.     With over 2 million spectators lining the streets of the concrete jungle, the city was buzzing with excitement. Scott stood alongside 11,000 participants, waiting patiently for the clock to strike 10:55am. 3...2...1...and they were off!    Given the difficulty of the terrain and the obstacles he encountered throughout the race, Scott is proud of his end time and his effort.    “The course was really challenging – 5 bridges and a number of hills. I’m happy with my 4:28 finish time!”    The New York City Marathon is known to be the largest in the world - hosting 55,000+ runners from over 150 countries. Way to go, Scott!

    The Providers' Council put out a breaking news alert to our members this morning about GoFundMe creating donation pages for 1.4 million charitable nonprofits without their approval or consent using data from Candid and Paypal. These donation pages look official, but they were created without nonprofits' knowledge. We have many concerns. It creates confusion for donors about whether pages are legitimate; leaves nonprofits without the donor information they need to do proper stewardship; and may conflict with branding, messaging and strategy. On top of that, GoFundMe has the default tip amount set to 16.5 percent (!) when making a donation to a nonprofit through one of its created pages. Funds donated to a nonprofit through these pages could take between 15 and 45 days to reach their intended destination. What should nonprofits do? First off, go here (https://www.gofundme.com/s), click nonprofits under the search bar and look for your organization. If you have had a page created, you can find more information about how to formally claim and then remove the page at this link: https://lnkd.in/eb_C3AKy. If you have other questions or get stuck, please email our staff at the Providers' Council, and we're happy to assist. If you're donating to nonprofit organizations, first of all -- THANK YOU! But please visit that nonprofit's website to look for a donation page rather than just looking for it through a search engine to ensure you've found the correct page and your donation will have the greatest impact. A huge thank you to Diane Yentel, Sarah Saadian and the team at the National Council of Nonprofits for their advocacy around this and working with state associations across the country to disseminate information to nonprofits about this critically important issue.

  • Another successful Caring Force rally on the Hill 💛 Key Program, Inc. staff members gathered with representatives from over 220 human service organizations at the State House in Boston for the 13th Annual Providers’ Council State House Rally. Each year, we come together to connect with our community to raise our voices and urge lawmakers to support our mission of assisting children, youth, and families. President & CEO Tammy Mello met with state legislators and policy makers to discuss funding and the necessity of additional support for human services across Massachusetts. We are honored to be surrounded by hundreds of social workers and human service members making a difference in our community every day.

  • We’re here in Washington, D.C. participating in the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) 2025 National Conference: Inspiring Change, Igniting Progress. CWLA is a coalition of hundreds of private and public agencies that has supported children and families since 1920.    President & CEO Tammy Mello, COO Mike Murray, as well as Key’s Lynn Meffen, Nancy Fillio, Norah Hass, Beth Palladino, Kendyll Ramos and Shannon Allen all gathered with the nation’s brightest minds in child welfare, and youth and family services to engage, connect, and learn.    U.S. Congresswoman Gwen Moore and U.S. Senator Susan Collins addressed the state of our political climate, emphasizing the need for us to come together as a community and continue to advocate for vulnerable children and families in America. Mike and Tammy also had the privilege of visiting Capitol Hill to meet with Representatives from Massachusetts to help advocate for policies and funding in the areas that most impact children, families, and the staff that help support them.   • Did you see us representing the Key Program in Philadelphia last week? OTs Deanna Nesti-Widdis and Kate Garib had the special opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired at the American Occupational Therapy Association National Conference & Expo. – the largest OT event of 2025. AOTA gathers thousands of occupational therapy practitioners and students each year. This year, more than 8,000 colleagues were in attendance, connecting with fellow OT professionals and exploring hands-on-learning as well as practice innovations. As they return to their home base, our OTs are excited and energized to continue reflecting on and synthesizing the knowledge they absorbed in order to expand our client care support of the staff and teams we work with each day.   Thank you, Deanna and Kate for representing Key at this unforgettable event!

  • The Key Program is teeing off once again to support children, youth, and families in need. Join us Thursday June 5th at Norton Country Club in Norton, MA for our Annual Golf Tournament beginning at 8:30am. Cost is $175.00 per player, which includes a continental breakfast, greens fees, golf cart, and lunch. All proceeds directly benefit the youth in Key’s various programs through our participation in the Rodman Ride for Kids Fundraiser. This Spotlight is with Tammy Mello, President & CEO of The Key Program, Inc. Q: Tell us about The Key Program. Tammy Mello (TM): We provide a continuum of services specifically for children, youth, and families that includes a full range of trauma-informed, community-based and residential supports. Our residential models such as group homes and intensive treatment residences provide safe, culturally sensitive support for young people who’ve been placed outside their home of origin.   We also operate a children’s behavioral health clinic and the Children’s Charter trauma clinic. Our focus is always to find innovative ways to support young people and their caregivers, most of whom have experienced some kind of trauma. Q: How does TCA support the work you’re doing?  TM: Being a TCA member brings us together with other organizations facing similar challenges so we can collaborate and brainstorm new strategies to ensure we maintain health and safety for our clients and staff. As a human services agency, there’s always risk and TCA has instilled the importance of critical thinking related to risk mitigation, including utilizing TCA resources. Working with TCA provides us with the tools we need to guide our decision making related to operations, policy, and program development. Q: What is the single most important benefit of being a member of TCA? TM: The financial dividends are a top benefit, but even more significant are the incredibly valuable interactions and conversations we have with colleagues from other organizations. The Risk & Loss Committee has been really pivotal. Maureen does an amazing job when someone is struggling with a particular issue by reaching out to other members for ideas and solutions. In our case, often the specifics that others bring may not completely apply to the needs of the young population we work with, but being able to hear what others are doing helps us take the idea and tailor it to our needs.  We’ve been working with TCA to really focus on physical plant safety and quality assurance. Recently, the Key Program was moved out of the “assigned risk” pool for workers compensation (a designation carrying a higher-level risk and higher premiums). I attribute this shift to working with TCA. Q: What is it like working with TCA? TM: TCA is always very responsive and helpful. They listen and understand our needs and the unique position we are in with the population we serve. I also really appreciate that Robert works very hard at vetting organizations who are looking to become part of TCA to ensure they are as committed as the rest of their membership and not going to increase risk for the larger group. I honestly can’t think of a thing they could do better.
