Last week, friends and family gathered to honor 1LT Gerard Melofchik, a WWII pilot whose remains were recently identified—more than 81 years after he was killed in action in France. His burial at Washington Crossing National Cemetery was a powerful reminder of why we observe Veterans Day: to recognize the courage, sacrifice and humanity of those who served. In letters sent home during the war, 1LT Melofchik requested HERSHEY'S milk chocolate bars—a small comfort that reminded him of home. At the ceremony, PA Senator Frank Farry presented the family with a 5lb HERSHEY'S milk chocolate bar, and we were proud to provide HERSHEY'S bars to attendees. Veterans Day is a time to reflect, honor and remember. We recognize the sacrifices of those who served and the power of small comforts—like a HERSHEY'S milk chocolate bar—to bring connection and healing. 1LT Melofchik’s story reminds us that even decades later, our products can help create moments that matter.
