Enabling better nature-related risk management, corporate reporting and capital allocation.

About us

The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) has developed a set of disclosure recommendations and guidance that encourage and enable business and finance to assess, report and act on their nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities. Sign up to our mailing list - https://ow.ly/69Ub50WOXB4 The recommendations and guidance will enable businesses and finance to integrate nature into decision making. Our aim is to support a shift in global financial flows away from nature-negative outcomes and toward nature-positive outcomes, aligned with the Global Biodiversity Framework. Launched in 2021, TNFD released the first beta versions its framework for consultation and feedback between March 2022 and March 2024. Over the two-year design and development phase leading to the publication of the TNFD recommendations in September 2023, it received feedback from over 60 countries. Over 200 pilot tests of a prototype framework were conducted by business and financial institutions around the world across sectors, geographies and biomes. TNFD published its final recommendation in September 2023.

The IAS Collaborative Initiative, led by Fauna & Flora, IUCN and leading businesses, is working to raise awareness and accelerate action on the prevention and management of IAS. The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) is working with the IAS Collaborative to finalise its placeholder IAS metrics. 📆 Deadline: 31 December 2025 🔗 Survey link: https://lnkd.in/dcU55BEr Your insights will help: ▪️ Highlight real business challenges and opportunities ▪️ Improve the relevance and usability of TNFD metrics for IAS ▪️ Shape practical guidance for action ▪️ Set the scene for cross-sector collaboration Survey findings will inform the IAS Collaborative Initiative’s Business Call to Action report, to be published in 2026. The survey takes 10-15 minutes, responses are anonymous, and you can opt to share your details for updates or to contribute case studies. Nature and biodiversity data, however, remain more complex to measure and integrate into decision-making, even as their material risks become clearer. The resilience of our global economy depends on the resilience of nature and exposure to nature-related risks may extend further than many investors currently recognise. Hosted by Karen Hitschke, CEO of Building Bridges this discussion with our CEO, Tony Goldner, and NatureAlpha's Vian Sharif explores how innovation and global standards are helping bring nature into mainstream finance — and what this means for investors managing risk and identifying new opportunities for resilience and long-term value creation. 🔗 This episode is available as audio on all podcast platforms: https://lnkd.in/dZTGkncw More recently, the Taskforce published a set of recommendations to upgrade the nature data value chain for market participants, focusing on how greater discoverability, quality and accessibility to nature-related data will support the broader assessment and reporting of nature-related issues. The recommendations also seek to unlock a much-needed new source of finance for the collection of essential state-of-nature data through the operation of a global common data facility. • The International Sustainable Forestry Coalition and Capitals Coalition, with support from the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), have released the "Forests and the Future Economy" report, which identifies seven key ecosystem services across global forestry enterprises, and is a constructive step towards embedding nature in financial decision-making.   #ISFC #CapitalsCoalition #TNFD #Forests

Today in São Paulo, at our pre-COP30 symposium, the forestry sector took a major step toward making nature's value visible in financial decision-making. The Forestry Natural Capital Project, led by ISFC with the Capitals Coalition and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), released its progress report, Forests and the Future Economy (available at is-fc.com). 18 forestry enterprises across 38 countries have defined 7 key ecosystem services that show how forests sustain economies, communities, and the planet. “Forests should be recognised as core economic infrastructure, every bit as important as energy, roads, or water,” said Ross Hampton GAICD, Chief Executive Officer of ISFC. This milestone marks the beginning of the next phase: measuring and valuing these services consistently, turning nature’s invisible value into decision-useful information for investors, policymakers, and society.

Our discussion paper on nature-related opportunities provides a common language to describe the elements and outcomes of nature-related opportunities through examples and case studies focused on practical challenges and solutions across sectors. 🔗 Download the discussion paper: https://ow.ly/FQqT50XnGNZ Key insights: ▪️ Nature-related opportunities are often identified from the bottom up within organisations for different reasons, ranging from mitigating financial risk to recognising interest from clients. ▪️ Pilots and exemplars are critical to rapidly demonstrate results and secure management buy-in, attracting finance, securing clients and establishing commercial viability. ▪️ Collaboration with parties on the ground, technical experts, counterparties and along the value chain is fundamental to structuring the nature-related opportunity. ▪️ Replication or scaling is easier with partners that have in-depth knowledge of the local business and nature context. ▪️ Nature-related opportunities that are ideally suited to the private markets are those that clearly tackle financial or core business strategy issues. The guide features 13 key questions that asset owners can ask of asset managers, and that asset owners can ask reflectively in their internal discussions about asset manager selection, assessment and monitoring. It is designed to help asset owners manage their exposure to nature-related issues and fulfil their responsibility to beneficiaries. 🔗 Download the guide: https://ow.ly/juBp50XnHWQ What's featured: ▪️ Using the guide can help ensure that asset owner CIOs and their teams have access to decision-useful information about how asset managers can help the asset owner achieve their nature-related ambitions, including identifying and managing dependencies and impacts on nature in their portfolios, and the risks and opportunities that these give rise to. ▪️ It is intended to be used as part of processes to select, assess, monitor and engage with prospective and existing asset managers. ▪️ The 13 key questions are each accompanied by examples of the sort of information that could be expected from asset managers. Prepared with input from leading investor groups and grounded in discussions with senior professionals actively navigating climate and nature integration, this tool supports informed decision-making in capital stewardship. #NatureFinance #CIOInsights #ResponsibleInvestment #AssetManagement #SustainableInvesting
