The #ShareOurSpare team is growing🌱 Keep an eye out over coming days and weeks, to learn a bit more about our newest team members! Today, we're excited to introduce our Program Coordinator, Ella Gilles (she/her)! Ella came onboard about 6 weeks ago, and has hit the ground running 💨 Her energy and passion for working hard in service to others is infectious! A little more about Ella... Ella grew up in Northern Virginia. Having access to the Smithsonian Institution instilled in her a lifelong passion for exploring museums. She studied math 🧮 and computer science 💻 at the University of Notre Dame. She loves to spend her Saturdays watching college football. 🏈 She recently moved to Chicago from the Bay Area, where she lived for two years. She served as a Conservation Supervisor at Civicorps in Oakland, CA through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. When she started to miss the seasons 🍂☃️🌷🌤️ and the comforts of the Midwest, she pursued opportunities to head back east and found Share Our Spare! Ella believes that we have an obligation to use our own resources to help those around us however we can, and SOS's commitment to support the dignity of our neighbors is a mission that she is excited to be a part of. She finds joy at work through interactions with our partner agencies and SOS's ability to meet specific needs of our community members. A woman of the people, for the people, and talking to the people about diaper need faced by families in our city. Share Our Spare’s fearless leader, Alex Goodfellow, has stepped down from her role as Executive Director. We wish her nothing but the best as she enters a new chapter. Her last day with the organization is today, September 26th. Even to the end she has been a mission focused advocate, working hard to ensure every child in Chicago has access to clean diapers and books. This is a true testament to her dedication and leadership. In addition to all that she has done to build up this incredible organization over the past 5 years. Team SOS will forever be grateful for the incomparable, Alex Goodfellow. As Share Our Spare heads into a time of transition, we feel confident and well positioned to build on her legacy. Cheers to Alex!
