SRP has once again earned national recognition for its reliability performance, ranking third nationwide among electric utilities serving more than 500,000 customers, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Reliability is measured using the System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI), which tracks the average outage duration per customer, and the System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI), which measures outage frequency. In 2024, SRP ranked third for SAIDI and 16th for SAIFI — an improvement from 2023, when it placed fifth and 26th, respectively. SRP’s reliability metrics include all types of interruptions and are not adjusted for major events, weather, or planned maintenance, underscoring the strength of our systems and processes. Reliable power benefits not only SRP’s residential and commercial customers but also plays a key role in attracting businesses to the region.

Another Arizona summer is behind us -- and what a summer it was. SRP set a new record for electricity demand and experienced some intense weather events. Here are a few highlights: The power system experienced a record peak demand of 8,542 megawatts on Aug. 7, when the temperature hit 118 degrees — the highest temperature ever for August in the Valley. There were no major transmission line outages. These accomplishments go far beyond just keeping the lights on or water flowing. They support public health, safety and the economic vitality of the Valley.
