💛 Shout-Out to Ronald McDonald House Charities! 💛 🏡 At Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC), we’re deeply grateful to our friends at Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney for providing a home away from home for children and families during medical treatment. 🌟 When six-year-old Maradona from the Solomon Islands underwent surgery at Westmead Children’s Hospital, their support ensured he and his mum had comfort, care, and community every step of the way. 🙏 Thank you, Ronald McDonald House, for turning compassion into action and helping us bring hope to children across Oceania. #GiveALittleCareALot — every small act of kindness makes a difference. 💛 #GiveBack #CommunitySupport #SocialImpact #HumanitarianAid #Nonprofit #Rotary #TaxDeduction #charity #ROMAC #RonaldMcDonaldHouse #RotaryAustralia #ChildrensHealth #HopeInAction #CommunityCare #Gratitude #TogetherWeCan

✨ Honoring a Legacy of Service: Geoff Dainty and ROMAC New Zealand ✨ 🌏 The ROMAC New Zealand Region was founded in 2004 through the dedication of Trish O’Reilly and Dr Max Morris, with the first child from Vanuatu treated soon after. 🙌 When Geoff Dainty succeeded Trish as Chair in 2007, his compassion, leadership, and unwavering dedication helped ROMAC NZ flourish. From welcoming patients to offering pastoral care, Geoff truly lived the Rotary motto Service Above Self. 💛 In May 2025, ROMAC proudly presented Geoff with a Lifetime Recognition Award, a heartfelt acknowledgement of his outstanding service and the countless lives changed through his commitment. 📬 This is from our May 2025 e-newsletter. 👍 A Big Thumbs Up! Sometimes, all you need is a big thumbs up. 💫 Here’s a heartwarming story from a 2013 ROMAC project — where a brave child from Tanna Island, Vanuatu 🇻🇺 received life-changing care and a chance at a brighter future 🌅 in John Hunter Hospital in New South Wales. As ROMAC, we’re dedicated to inspiring change and bringing hope to children and families across our region. 💚 None of this would be possible without our amazing supporters — and we look forward to your continued support and that of your loved ones. 🙏 💚 Because at ROMAC, every little gesture of kindness goes a long way: https://lnkd.in/enxXBpWD #GiveALittleCareALot — every small act of kindness makes a difference. 💛 #GiveBack #CommunitySupport #SocialImpact #HumanitarianAid #Nonprofit #Rotary #RotaryAustralia #RotaryNewZealand #RotaryOceania #TaxDeduction #charity #NSWGovernment #NSWHealth #JohnHunterHospital

✨ WHY WE DO IT ✨ 🌏Nearly forty years ago, Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC) founder Barrie Cooper had a simple idea: that Rotary could bring hope to the children of Oceania through life-changing surgery in Australia and New Zealand. 🫶 Many of these children were once hidden away, denied dignity and opportunity because of disability. ROMAC’s mission was born: To facilitate medical aid for children in Oceania in the form of life saving and/or dignity restoring surgery, not accessible to them in their home countries. 💙 One of those lives was Ramesh, a 12-year-old from Fiji with brittle bone disease. After years of expert treatment through ROMAC, Ramesh who was once unable to walk, stood tall and strong. 🙌Stories like his remind us why we continue: every operation is a new beginning, made possible by the compassion of Rotarians, doctors, and donors united by one belief: every child deserves a chance. --- We would like to invite everyone to inspire change and choose ROMAC to support with their donation. Without you, none of this would be possible. We look forward to your continued support — and that of your loved ones. 📬 Subscribe to our newsletters: https://lnkd.in/ehvk3dms 💛 Donate now: https://lnkd.in/dsEbu62N #GiveALittleCareALot — every small act of kindness makes a difference. 💛 #GiveBack #CommunitySupport #SocialImpact #HumanitarianAid #Nonprofit #Rotary #TaxDeduction #charity #WhyWeDoIt #HopeInAction #ChildrensHealth #ServiceAboveSelf #MakingADifference #HumanityInAction #ChangingLivesEveryDay

Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC) reposted this
The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is proud to announce a new partnership with Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC), aimed at delivering specialist medical treatment to children from Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea, and other parts of Oceania. Under this five-year agreement, children under 16 with life-threatening or debilitating conditions, whose conditions cannot be treated in their home countries, will be eligible for treatment at Perth Children’s Hospital. ROMAC will coordinate travel, accommodation, and provide financial support for CAHS to provide comprehensive care across medical, surgical, nursing, and allied health services. “This partnership with ROMAC is about more than medical care. It’s about hope, compassion, and the belief that every child’s life matters,” said Michael Hutchings, Acting CAHS Chief Executive. “We’re proud to be part of this life-changing initiative.” For more information about ROMAC and its work, visit romac.org.au.

✨ A HOME FULL OF HEART ✨ 👶 When one-year-old Maximus from Timor-Leste needed life-saving heart surgery, a last-minute challenge arose — his host family fell ill just before arrival. 🏡But in true Rotary spirit, our Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC) network immediately stepped up. Long-time supporter Ray Fauntleroy offered his help, and within hours, a caring and culturally familiar home was found for Maximus and his mum Lilina. 💙 Because at ROMAC, it’s not just about medical care — it’s about people opening their homes and hearts to give every child a chance at life. --- We look forward to your continued support — and that of your loved ones. 📬 Subscribe to our newsletters: https://lnkd.in/ehvk3dms 💛 Donate now: https://lnkd.in/dsEbu62N #GiveALittleCareALot — every small act of kindness makes a difference. 💛 #GiveBack #CommunitySupport #SocialImpact #HumanitarianAid #Nonprofit #Rotary #Rotarians #ThoughtForTheDay #ServiceAboveSelf

🌟 A Special Moment for ROMAC in Western Australia 🌟 Our last patient in Perth was treated at the former Princess Margaret Hospital for Children back in 2014 — one of 17 (mostly cardiac) cases treated since 2003. 🤝 Since then, ROMAC and Department of Health (WA Health)'s Child and Adolescent Health Service have been working steadily behind the scenes to re-establish this vital partnership. ✨ At the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, formalising the resumption of ROMAC treatments at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH), our Chair Glenys Parton shared: “ROMAC is proud to partner with CAHS to bring South Pacific children to Perth Children’s Hospital for treatment.” 🏥🌏 This marks a meaningful step forward in continuing our mission to change young lives through access to critical medical care. 💛👩⚕️👶 --- 📬 This is from our September 2025 e-newsletter.
