Quality improvement is the name of the game for our senior professional nursing students!    Over the course of the full semester, our senior nursing students have worked diligently on a research project where they saw an opportunity for quality improvements at Riverside. This past week they had the opportunity to present their quality improvement capstone projects to the Riverside Regional Medical Center team. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication to improving patient experiences and outcomes.

Today marks the Great American Smokeout and National Smokeout Day, a nationwide initiative that encourages individuals to take the first step toward quitting tobacco. At Riverside Health, delivering exceptional patient care means addressing the diverse needs of every individual—across age groups and abilities. 💚 Riverside Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Department recently introduced a new sensory cart to support patients with autism, providing tools that help create a calm, sensory-friendly environment during potentially stressful visits. This initiative was made possible through a partnership with Hampton Fire Rescue, whose community fundraising efforts funded the cart and additional sensory resources for EMS units. A Day in the Life: Dr. Melvin Schursky 🩺✨ Every day in surgery tells a story of precision, teamwork, and purpose. At Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Dr. Melvin Schursky begins his day in the pre-op area — connecting with his team and patients to prepare for a full schedule of surgeries. One of the day’s cases is a left breast lumpectomy using Magseed technology and the KUBTEC System, advanced tools that enable highly accurate tumor localization and 3D tissue imaging. Throughout the day, Dr. Schursky documents cases, coordinates with colleagues, and meets with families to discuss outcomes. One day. One purpose. A commitment to healing through innovation. 💚
