This week is #NationalNursesWeek, and Planned Parenthood Arizona is saying “thank you” to the compassionate and skilled nurses and physician’s assistants who work every day to keep patients in our communities healthy to ensure they have access to the full range of reproductive health care options, including birth control, testing and treatment for STls, and medically-accurate sexual health information. 🫂 Our work would not be possible without the expertise, compassion, leadership, and bravery of our clinicians! 💛

The work of Planned Parenthood Arizona, Inc.and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona is so important in this moment. Grateful to serve with these amazing folks and keep fighting for #CareNoMatterWhat!
Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona's annual spring luncheon theme was Generations, and it was so special to share the space with generations of reproductive justice leaders from across the state- including my fellow PPAZ Board Members and two wonderful women I get to work with everyday, Charlene Mendoza and Mayor Regina Romero! I’ve attended this luncheon for many years, including as a volunteer and as an attendee in college thanks to generous donors who made it possible for young activists to have a seat at the table. This year, Alex Ross and I were able to co-sponsor a table with Andrea Sanchez and we invited two incredible UA student leaders currently involved with Planned Parenthood Generation Action, the same chapter where I served as President and Alex as Vice President from 2015 to 2017. Christina Petrin and Marlee Fenton, thank you for attending and for the amazing work you’re leading as the next generation of PPGen on campus, especially in the face of ongoing attacks on bodily autonomy, education, protest, and DEIA- along with so many other issues impacting student organizers. Our fight for reproductive justice evolves, and our movement grows stronger with young leaders like you. Thank you for an amazing day, Planned Parenthood Arizona, Inc. 💖

I had a great time at the Planned Parenthood Arizona, Inc. annual luncheon today. It was wonderful being among people who are committed to Planned Parenthood Arizona’s mission and are collectively working to protect abortion access in our state. Actress, Busy Philipps, Repro activist and attorney, Chris Love, Mayor Romero of Tucson, and Democratic Caucus leader and LD18 representative, Priya Sundareshan, all discussed the challenges we are facing in working to safeguard the protections AZ voters overwhelmingly advocated for in the 2025 election. Proud to be in this fight with all of you!

I had an abortion at 20, it’s okay you can “👍 or ❤️” this post. If my parents would have educated me about safe sex or my ovulation cycle, I can assure you, I would not have gotten pregnant. This was one of many hard experiences I have encountered as I journeyed to this place of being a mom and CEO. I attended and donated at the Planned Parenthood Arizona, Inc. luncheon today because they provide healthcare for women when systems let us down, and it’s not just about abortion services. They are there when a female needs an exam, if a man is ready for a vasectomy, if a female needs cancer screenings, if anyone needs a STD screening, if a transgender person needs hormone therapy, and so much more. Thanks to Oscar De las salas for hosting a table and making this a special day with friends. Chris Love you were amazing, thank for hosting the hilarious Busy Philipps! Thank you to Mayor Romero for your attendance and Governor Hobbs for you support! #healthcare #choice

Outside of the climate space, I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Planned Parenthood Arizona, Inc. Board of Directors. As a young high school student, Planned Parenthood provided me with the knowledge and skills I needed to make informed choices for my sexual health that I still carry with me today. Every day, our staff work tirelessly to provide compassionate and high-quality healthcare against the backdrop of constant attacks on our reproductive rights. Please join me in raising money for PPAZ this Arizona Gives Day. Your contribution would mean a lot to me, and more so for our patients. Those dollars go directly to our health centers and keep our care affordable. Now more than ever, you can make a difference with your donation and help us continue to provide the best care, no matter what.

Celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth by learning about Black History.💜 Meet Byllye Y. Avery (1937-), the founder of the Black Women’s Health Imperative, a trailblazer in women’s health for over 45 years, and thought leader in reproductive justice. She began her work on women’s health and reproductive rights in the late 1960s. Prior to the passage of Roe v. Wade, she helped women access abortion care by helping them find a way to New York, where abortions were safe and legal. In 1974 (after Roe v. Wade passed), she co-founded the Gainesville Women’s Health Center, an early abortion provider in Gainesville, Florida. Four years later, in the same city, she co-founded Birthplace, a midwifery birthing center. In 1983, Avery founded the National Black Women’s Health Project during a conference being held at Spelman College in Atlanta. Prior to founding the Imperative, Avery had been active in the National Women’s Health Network (NWHN), an organization dedicated to addressing women's reproductive health and wellness. In this work, Avery noticed that Black women's needs and concerns were consistently being marginalized and ignored. Avery and her co-activists created the Project/Imperative to address the lack of attention being paid to Black women's health issues. Today and always, we value her work in this movement. ✊ #BLHM #ByllyeAvery #LGBTQ #QueerHistory . Source: ACLU Maine . Quote: “Women’s groups have got to start getting together. Get yourselves together, start doing your organizing. We have to have them all over the country, in every city, every town has got to have it. Every place. You just have to do it,” (Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society).

Arizona Health Care Providers File Lawsuit Challenging Abortion Ban and To Resume Providing Care Across the State Arizona health care providers filed a lawsuit today challenging a ban on abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy, which is in violation of the state’s new constitutional amendment protecting the fundamental right to abortion. Read Full Release Here: https://lnkd.in/gZniZivG Dr. Jill Gibson, Chief Medical Officer, Planned Parenthood Arizona, Inc. shared, "Arizonans resoundingly voted to enshrine abortion access in the state constitution when they voted YES on Prop 139 and made it clear they do not support bans on abortion. Our community deserves the right to make our own decisions about our bodies and our health. And Planned Parenthood Arizona will not stop fighting for our patients and our health care staff.” Join us in expanding access to abortion care in Arizona.
