Ouster has made it an organizational priority to provide efficient management of high-quality lidar data in ROS 2 workflows. Handling large point cloud datasets, ensuring reliable sensor connections, and optimizing visualization pipelines can be challenging. In our newest ROS 2 oriented webinar, we demonstrated a streamlined approach to these challenges using the Ouster driver for ROS 2. We discuss the set up process as well as demonstrate how to visualize data and cover key features like auto-reconnection and point cloud organization. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/dMKTgBQH

Ouster lidar delivers both 3D point clouds and real-time 2D signal images from a single sensor. Unlike conventional lidar that outputs only raw point cloud data, Ouster sensors simultaneously generate 2D transformed images. These images can provide all ambient and emitted light within the detector's sensitive wavelength range, producing grayscale-like visual data that enables direct application of standard computer vision algorithms. • Near-IR channel combines ambient light and lidar-emitted light for enhanced detection • Real-time 2D image output enables YOLO and other established CV models to run directly on lidar data • Dual data streams—3D spatial information and 2D visual representation—from a single hardware platform • Potentially eliminates the need for separate camera systems in applications where lidar-derived images provide sufficient visual context Explore how Ouster's dual-output architecture expands perception capabilities → https://lnkd.in/exQDyDj9

Ouster lidar helping modernize critical infrastructure in Oklahoma. Proud to support smarter, safer transportation networks that optimize traffic flow and enhance safety along vital freight corridors.
Another implementation of Ouster Lidar in #OK 🚦 This week I had the opportunity to deploy a new Ouster lidar system along US-69 in Oklahoma, a vital freight corridor linking Texas to Missouri. Powered by Ouster high-resolution digital Lidar and #BlueCity perception software, this installation delivers real-time traffic insights to help optimize signal performance, enhance safety, and reduce congestion along one of the region’s busiest routes. Improving #mobility and commutes — one intersection at a time. #SmartCities #ITS #Analytics #Freight #Transportation #Ouster #ODOT #Mobotrex

Chattanooga deploys the largest lidar-powered traffic network in the United States The city of Chattanooga is expanding Ouster's BlueCity ITS solution to over 120 intersections across its downtown corridor, establishing the largest deployment of lidar detection technology for traffic and pedestrian safety in the country. Following a successful 12-intersection pilot, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Center for Urban Informatics and Progress partnered with the city to implement digital lidar sensors and edge AI at each intersection. The system provides real-time 3D perception for traffic signal management while generating high-resolution analytics on vehicle, pedestrian, and cyclist movement patterns. BlueCity capabilities in deployment: • Automated signal actuation based on real-time traffic conditions • Detection and analysis of safety incidents, including near-misses and red light violations • V2X communication infrastructure for connected vehicle systems • Cloud-based data collection for traffic pattern analysis and urban planning The deployment processes road events with deep learning AI perception, enabling city planners to identify safety risks and optimize traffic flow across Chattanooga's public corridors. Congrats to CLAAS and partners on demonstrating how autonomous farming goes beyond just autonomous driving.
Efficient Autonomy – what’s that? 🤔 Driving autonomously is just the beginning – working autonomously is the goal. Once we reach that point, the entire system must operate efficiently as one. That’s why the surrounding process steps are becoming increasingly important – such as the logistics processes for input materials. Together with our 3A partners AgXeed and AMAZONE, we’ve taken a deep dive into this topic. Using seeding as an example, we demonstrate how smart logistics processes can significantly improve overall campaign efficiency.🌾🤝 Smart. Efficient. Autonomous. 🚜🌾 🎯 More time for what really matters. See you at Agritechnica – CLAAS InnoLab, Hall 13!
