State collaboration models — whether between state agencies, state and federal government, or states and other stakeholders — can be a powerful tool to share technology and get more mileage out of funding. However, collaboration models can limit modernization if states aren’t empowered with the right funding, talent, capacity, and more. Nava Labs recently published a new report that explores what factors promote or hinder effective collaboration and how teams can successfully implement modern digital systems. To research the report, our team interviewed 29 practitioners, policymakers, and technical experts across 24 government agencies, nonprofits, think tanks, and vendors. Below we’ve included the first several pages of the report that feature our Executive Summary! Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/g3jmceG9 Congrats to Alicia Benish, MPH and Martelle Esposito, MS, MPH as well as Jennifer Noll Folliard, MPH and Jessi B., MPA for co-authoring this incredible report!

Honored to speak at Nava's Open Source Summit 2025 in DC—sharing how our team at Better Government Lab is building open, transparent tools to help states cut SNAP payment errors faster in response to H.R. 1. 💻 SNAP QC Error Viewer – Interactive dashboard to see where errors cluster, who’s affected, and responsibility patterns (agency / client / system) to drive targeted corrective action. 💡 SNAP QA Benchmark Dataset (coming soon to Hugging Face) – ~800 navigator-style scenarios from real QC pathways to test whether AI models can reason through the same error scenarios benefit navigators face. 🔎 Want a closer look? Link to the tool in the comments. If this resonates, or you’re exploring similar work, we'd love to hear from you! #SNAP #OpenSource #GovTech #CivicTech #PublicPolicy #DataForGood #AIforGood #DataViz
