First week of in-person final round interviews for Luminal. We fly out our best potential hires out to work with us for the day. The energy of being in person with people as passionate as you is infectious. Someone finding you on LinkedIn from across the country and being at your office a week later is a really weird feeling. Feels like growing up somehow. These days have definitely completely sold me on in-person work.

Here’s my anti-pitch for working at Luminal (YC S25): ❌ We work really hard and expect you to as well. We work the weekend a lot ❌ We need everyone to work in person ❌ The problems we’re tackling are brutally difficult ❌ The bar is really high. We only hire people who can thrive under pressure Now here's the benefit to all of those: ✅ You’ll learn and build at a pace most people never get to experience. That intensity compounds your growth in months instead of years ✅ Our office will be BEAUTIFUL and somewhere you looking forward to coming into ✅ You’ll be solving problems on the frontier of GPU computing. Things people in academia and big tech teams spend years on. Career defining work ✅ You’ll be surrounded by sharp, driven people who share your obsession and drive you to be better everyday I’m a big believer in not convincing people to do things. We cite and reread this essay at Luminal (YC S25) constantly. We’re building the bleeding edge of how AI models will run. Our approach, while technically possible, will be the hardest thing you’ve ever worked on. But when we get there, we will have changed the whole AI landscape. True disruption: incumbents will scramble to acquire us (they already are) or kill us for fear of irrelevancy.
