Every corner of the Veterans Affairs Fredericksburg Healthcare Clinic was designed with one goal in mind: to support the well-being of veterans. From restorative gardens and daylight-filled interiors to intuitive wayfinding and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, the space was created to feel as caring as the care it provides. That human-centered approach was recently recognized nationally by International Interior Design Association (IIDA) with a 2025 Healthcare Design Award in the Ambulatory (Specialty Clinic) category. Senior Design Architect Joel Dabrowski was on-site to accept the honor on behalf of the design team and project partners, including Carnegie Management & Development Corporation, Harvey Cleary, NV5, and BR+A Consulting Engineers. “Thank you to the IIDA, the awards jury, and our peers at the ceremony for the recognition and discussion,” says Joel. “On the heels of Veterans Day, we hope the design serves our veterans as a small thank you in return for their service to us.” 📷: Keith Isaacs Photo #healthcaredesign #IIDA #IIDAAwards #interiordesign #awardwinningdesign
