These community college partnerships help students earn industry-recognized certificates and college credit toward an associate degree, setting them up for success after release.   • 📢 New Mail & Publication Procedures 📢 To enhance safety and security for individuals in custody, staff, and visitors, IDOC is implementing new processes for non-privileged incoming mail and publications, effective immediately. 🔒 Key Changes: • All non-privileged mail will be scanned or photocopied; no originals will be delivered. • Publications must now be mailed directly from a publisher. • Visitors can no longer drop off publications at facilities. 📄 Learn more & read the full update in the graphics below.

  • 👷♂️🏗️ Happy National Construction Appreciation Week! 🏗️👷♀️ Today, we are highlighting the construction courses and programs in IDOC facilities, where individuals in custody are building brighter futures through education and training. 🛠️ Construction classes are offered through Danville Community College, Kaskaskia College, and Lake Land College. Through these community college programs, individuals earn certificates and college credit toward an associate degree. Certificate programs include Fundamental Construction Skills, Practical Building Trades, and Construction Business. IDOC's OAEVS also offers a building maintenance program at Menard CC using the National Center for Construction Education Research (NCCER) curriculum and testing.
